Think of it this way.
HL1: You start out in a train. Gman has full control over your destiny from the beginning. Ends on a train (Gman still has control)
HL2: You start out in a train. Gman still has full control. Ended on a train. Gman still has control.
EP1: You [b]don't[/b] start out in a train. Gman did NOT want you to wake back up, and thus, has no control for the beginning. Ends on a train. Gman has control, but not for long.
EP2: You start out on a crashed train. The gman and vortigaunt race are fighting for your destiny. Does not end on a train. Gman is either in no control now, or is not pleased.

It ended in the same Screen Saver that was seen through the windows of the train in HL1, so there.
eli died because of two reasons:
eli was going to tell him of gman himself
gman was not pleased in the fact that the vorts messed with freeman's destiny (also why it doesn't end on a train)

Couldn't it have been coincidence that he died? I mean, Gman took all that effort to give him a message, it seems stupid to kill him before he can act on it.
EP3 starts with Combine Train flying in the Hangar, and you overtake it a manage to get a bunch of Rebels with you.

I must say, I was very excited reading through the Advisor attacks. It made me think "OMG OMG OMG! Half-Life 3 is coming soon".

Maybe they would keep adding to it with DLC and such.
It would be awesome if EP3 started with G-man Saying "DOCTOR FREEMAN. Wake up" or something, and then Gordon waking up and it was a rebel trying to wake him.
Also, AR3 guy should punch a hunter to death/should find an AR3 at some point.
I hope we get the ability to kill rebels in ep3.

Hoping it won't cut it for Valve developers, because a lot of the fans would get excited about EP3 which would give Valve the wrong impression.
I would advise Valve not to listen to community so much. For example TF2, I don't like what they turned TF2 into (because of what fans "wanted")
They will not come out whit a new source engine...

I think that Episode 3 will be a full-length game, but with the title of an episode. I don't think they'll skip straight to HL3.
