packaged with what? team fortress 3 and left 4 dead 5?
Valve has almost 300 employee. There might be the possibility that they are developing a complete new game.
Also I remember reading something about how Gordon Freeman does have a voice, the voice of the player.

The bit at the beginning was pretty well made.

Yep. We could be getting F-STOP too.

Maybe Prospero... :o
I hope it's Half-Life 3.
If nothing else, they could use it as a joke about how Episode 3 never really was released after all.
Maybe the reason EP3 is taking so long is because they are working on half-life 3. What if EP3 has been done for several years now, but they want to package the 2 games together.
If nothing else, they could use it as a joke about how Episode 3 never really was released after all.
We could say "still waiting for Episode 3."
Why does the fandom have such a raging obsession with the dishwater-dull and generic plot of "John Q. Citizen does his best Gordon Freeman impression as he tries to escape the Combine at City ##, along with his friends which we SWEAR are not at all like Alyx, Barney or Kleiner."? Why does the fandom avoid touching the main plot and characters as if they're radioactive? Have the countless mods, GMOD vids, and maps that use that exact plot above just not been enough yet?
I'm not saying it's all a bad idea. A citizen-focused piece could be a good short film. As a feature-length one though? It would suck because it shows the weakness of the setting; When you remove Gordon Freeman, You remove the HEV Suit, the Gravity Gun, the Scientist Hero, the Theme of Control, and the Supporting Cast around him. And thus you remove the few things that keep the Half-Life 2 setting from being derided as "Michael Bay's 1984". And the setting deserves better than that. Putting the focus on the citizens puts the setting in direct competition with films that have already done this concept and did it better (Children of Men, Brazil, and Radford's adaptation of 1984 come to mind).
And all this ultimately stems from Valve's treatment of Gordon's character. Aside from the short bit of text that was in the HL1 manual and whatever throwaway lines they have in the games, Gordon Freeman has no character whatsoever. Anything resembling a character or personality for him is because of YOU imposing one. That's a deliberate decision made by Valve and it works very well in the games...Too well if you ask me, because no matter if Valve decided to give him a character, or what actor played him, you won't accept it. Because in the end, no Gordon, not even Valve's, is your one.
If it's my own character, then why can't I tell Kleiner/Alyx to solve their own problems while I go get some rest or something and do my own thing?
"Hey Gordon! Go do this for us!"
"Um, no? I want to go do something else."
"Thanks Gordon! When you're done with what we told you to do come back later because we have something else."
"Can't I please just go get something to eat? I've went several days without nothing and got shot in the same area more then anyone would get shot in several lifetimes and-"
"Better get in the jeep and get going Gordon, those rebels won't save the city themselves!"
Maybe Prospero... :o
Or that mysterious Valve game that we just have a little bit of concept art for.
Maybe Prospero... :o
When I was reading about Prospero on the CombineOverwiki, I realized how awesome it would be to lift a locker or something and kill
stuff with your MIND.

It wouldn't be impossible to ease people into a new image of Gordon Freeman, just like my images have been molded by other fans.

They said that wasn't anything.

Valve has kind of fucked themselves. It had be released earlier, and even if it was a little disappointing it could have been able to make face somehow.
Now, it's going to have to be a damned masterpiece to balance the wait.
Agreed.
Half-Life 2: Episode 3 had better be more realistic than all of the Call Of Duty, Battlefield, and Crysis games COMBINED.
It had better be in 4-D.
Agreed.

Video Game Makers should leave graphics where they are, in my opinion, and fix physics instead.
This is the Twenty First Century, video games should not have invisible walls and unbreakable fences in them.
Maybe Prospero... :o
Or Valve's submarine simulator!

Its reasons like this that DNF crashed and burned for a lot of people (I liked it, so whatever). People believe that 'long dev time = better game quality', but it was just a plethora of shit for 3D Realms (Though some blame goes to Geabox for the overhype). Honestly, don't get so hyped up and thinking HL3/Ep3 will have X, Y, and Z, because when it comes and you find out 'hey this isn't what i thought it was gonna be!!!' you'll be disappointed. Expect nothing except Gordon Freeman in HL3/Ep3 and play the game when it comes out, if it ever does.

I hope that was a joke.
since 4D is time every game is in 4D
unless you're speaking in mathematical terms instead of universal
turns out Alyx was adopted and she hangs herself 2 weeks later

Did you see the part where Gordon speaks to her dead body, then cries?

I would like to think Gabe would not go back on his word about Episode Three. If what he said was not official back then for the future, then I really am confused.
They said after the release of Episode 2, that it was kind of a bad idea to make a Episodic model.
Seeing that Gabe said they don't want to leave their single player games without some sort of Multiplayer/co-operative experience, I was thinking.
What if they included some sort of remake of Half-Life 2 Death Match, I could easily see that happening, and with what the did with Portal 2 It's safe to say character customization
would also be a feature itself. (I only hope all the items would fit the mood, theme and setting of the Half-Life universe)
so I mocked this up

something like this would be pretty cool
not to mention the gameplay could really be improved from HL2DM so it's more about actually fighting and not people throwing my grenades back at me with the gravity gun faster than I can think.
thoughts?
I had the same idea, an improved HL2DM, but not the char. customisation
Hell, I would like customization in HL2:DM.
If they do remake HL2DM I'm sure they will add customization. Why wouldn't they?
It doesn't fit it, just like it didn't fit Portal 2
It doesn't fit it, just like it didn't fit Portal 2
as I said, as long as the items FIT the style, mood and setting I'd be alright with customization
no Dr. Seuss Top hats or Rabbit heads
