im thinking that somehow they will bring eli back dunno because a advisor in ep2 kills him
What? I fail to understand your logic.
What? I fail to understand your logic.
He's telling you That Eli's death obviously means he'll be waking up in the morning.

im not but im pretty sure they will bring him back....some how
nope
im not but im pretty sure they will bring him back....some how
I no speak leet, sry? But seriously, your logic is fundamentally flawed. You can't just "un-kill" someone. Although, Valve could, in theory, introduce a new character entirely to fill in the missing space.

If anything it would be a "Heart to Heart" like what G-man's been doing for the whole series. Perhaps Eli was part of a greater plan as G-man is after all their "Mutual Friend" If anything G-man could allow Eli's ghost (oh god we probably wouldn't want to get into that) or something and finally tell Gordon what he needed to tell him at the end of Episode 2. OR THE VORTIGAUNTS EVEN. After all, Alyx is sort of connected through the vortessence like Gordon, so why not Eli too? inb4 overthinking Also sort of looking back on Customization, what if EVERYTHING was unlocked at the start, OR players can only find customizable equipment by little gags and secrets valve hides in single player.
Although, Valve could, in theory, introduce a new character entirely to fill in the missing space.
And who would that be? Until Episode 2, your unaware you will run into Dr Magnunson. He and Kleiner will probably now have to cover Eli's duties. As for new voices, Episode Two, while the rebels still looked the same, Valve brought Adam Baldwin to provide a different voice, because of this, I would assume they would get another change of voice to cover for the rebels. I don't see why no reason not to. The old HL2 E3 story, Odell led you in to the Borealis, but kind of hid behind while Gordon did all the fighting. I question who the character will be to fill that role now. Also, I can't imagine they would of only hired dee bradley baker for CoOp noises in Portal 2, and not given that person more work. As for Ellen McClain, you can recognize her voice like GlaDOS in Episode Two, where as in regular HL2, she does not do so much of a GlaDOS voice. Whoever the Combine dispatch is, if Gordon were to take the Combine dispatcher down, and their communication systems offline, maybe that will help bring them down a good peg.
Sucker punch did it in inFamous 2 [sp]John[/sp] Can't see how valve can't
Because it would be a painfully stupid cop-out to a massive dramatic cliffhanger? The games shouldn't even be compared in this case. With the way Valve set up and executed their ending to EP2 it would be immensely lazy and even outright insulting not to follow through on such a ending, and i have faith that Valve's writing team is better than that. And before you say "Well they brought Alyx back from the dead", in fictional storytelling there is a small but significant difference between "Hero's sidekick brought back from the brink of death by a last-ditch effort" dead and "Hero's sidekick sobbing over her brutally murdered father's body as the credits roll" dead.
And who would that be?
the mute/deaf character valve said would be in episode 3

I was just responding to Pilotguy97's statement o how they can't just un-kill a character. I said it wouldn't be hard, but ridiculous.
Seeing that Gabe said they don't want to leave their single player games without some sort of Multiplayer/co-operative experience, I was thinking. What if they included some sort of remake of Half-Life 2 Death Match, I could easily see that happening, and with what the did with Portal 2 It's safe to say character customization would also be a feature itself. (I only hope all the items would fit the mood, theme and setting of the Half-Life universe) so I mocked this up something like this would be pretty cool not to mention the gameplay could really be improved from HL2DM so it's more about actually fighting and not people throwing my grenades back at me with the gravity gun faster than I can think. thoughts?
That's pretty cool Call me a fag but i loved the customization in the Halo series for example :v:
I honestly wouldn't mind if, since they've brought back the Borealis for Episode Three most likely, they brought back Odell along it. Change his character up a bit though, if Valve is still going more for the horror approach to this episode. Having the ship be a bit bigger and darker, and having Odell being a Smeagol-type character (insane from decades of loneliness and survival on a seemingly empty ship) helping to lead you around sounds kind of interesting to me.
If they added co-op to the next half life game, do you guys think it'd follow Freeman and friend or be a completely new set of rebels (Combine?)

Hydra (more precisely, a lot of Hydras) will be the perfect guardian of the ship. Imagine those tentacles crawling around every corner in the ship, and you have to sneak through them until grabbing a flame gun, eventually burn them to hell. I think they've said before in regards to the Hydra in Raising the Bar, "when an idea doesn't work, it just doesn't work". Although I could still kind of see a design in which it could work: Have the Hydra tentacles come out of pre-designated spots in the wall, like maybe it works it's way through the piping systems of the ship or something and and break through valves certain places, which can either block the players path or give the player another thing to shoot at.
the mute/deaf character valve said would be in episode 3
Yeah, but what role will he play, is he going to fight or do lab work? Also, I would hope whoever this person is, has an original character model. When Adam Baldwin was cast for Episode Two, his character model did not look exactly new to me. So, for the new deaf character you mention, I don't feel its just if they recycle an existing model. Gabe made it sound like this character, Alyx potentially lost, don't know before the events of Episode Three or during, was the explanation for why she knows how to use sign language. (that should mean severe graphical hand/finger improvement, most of the retail rebels lacked this) As for the Hydra, I tried typing the spawn code into the console of Episode One during the Zombine joke chapter, which was only possible courtesy of the missing information team. I wanted to see how many Zombies the Hydra would nail. Not too long after, episode one eventually crashed. Considering HL1 had something similar to the Hydra, I don't see why they could not have kept just one instance of the Hydra appearing in the episodic series.
the mute/deaf character valve said would be in episode 3
This makes me wonder why Gordon isn't deaf after all the explosions that have gone off around him. [QUOTE=N. Is decay even canon?

[editline]21st July 2011[/editline]
Is decay even canon?
I believe the answer is the same as that of "is opposing force canon?"
Is decay even canon?
It's debated pretty much everywhere. Including at Valve.
It's debated pretty much everywhere. Including at Valve.
Wtf, I thought were talking about Half Life 2: Episode 3? I just hoping the fucking game actually comes out, or even Half Life 3 for all I care now.
I can't wait for Valve to stop making Sequels all the time and start working on an original Title, Even their current in-the-work game is a sequel to a mod of another game by another company, seriously?

See: Left 4 Dead, Alien Swarm. I'd like to see a wholly original game though, for sure, as their last one was technically Half-Life?
Portal.
Made by DigiPen students, technically.
