No they're not. All of them have different swinging speeds and ranges.
I feel like L4D just needs to get expanded on all sides. All the campaigns are get from point A to B. No real variation in objectives.

Yeah, I always thought it would be cool for the cola event to not start off with the cola being outlined and you had to search through all the isles and fridges. Maybe even some nearby stores or vending machines.

I want it!
I'm going to ask this here before I go to fast threads.
A lot of my sounds in L4D are corrupted.
The button hover/click sound,
weapon switching and firing/
many voices.
I've tried removing the sound cache and rebuilding.
I've tried reinstalling the game.
Nothing.
L4D2 works fine though.
Oh my god. I suck dicks at L4D1. 630 Games played 30 survived
after having tested privately (4v4) every night, twice a night, for 3 months straight, this campaign is being released for public consumption based upon my personal satisfaction with the quality of its versus game-play. future versions will address remaining bugs, as well as take a few more passes at the environment and atmosphere, which can be a bit schematic at times. i think i'd like to find a
few places in the campaign to set up some scavenge gameplay, too.
please be aware that this campaign was designed for versus play. while single-player and coop are functional (with the exception of rescue closets!) and encouraged for learning the layout, there is just far too much built into these maps for human special infected, that playing in any mode other than versus sells them short.
this campaign tips much of its geometry heavily in the special infected's favor. bad things can happen fast and happen often if the survivors aren't well coordinated. inevitably, this alone is going to frustrate a survivor team, so from the outset i've set about the delicate task of keeping the patient alive, so to speak. this heightened assault from the special infected is buffered by a careful and varied rhythm of dangerous to safe spaces, and a well-tested and selective placement of items that seems to keep everyone happy.
it's understood that this campaign may induce a little more disorientation than the usual l4d fare. i believe that the payoff for this yields more when weighed against the investment of time that learning the map may incur. in essence, you can basically follow the lights through the maps to find your way, but there will admittedly be times when the pathways diverge and you find yourself a little confused. choices you make as a survivor, once you know what's being offered, will depend on the condition of your team (particularly true in vs.). a typical mechanic embedded in these choices would be that one route offers quick passage, with little to no item placement, at the risk of very concentrated and high damage, and the other route offers more items, in comparatively safe areas, at the cost of team speed (and in turn, distance).
in the intense testing that i've done of the campaign, teams have become acutely aware of the above distinctions when faced with multiple routes, and it seems to produce meaningful choices, and sometimes hilarious results.
other examples of situations that may initially confuse people are places where the maps fold back onto themselves. in approaching many passages in the campaign as a sort of game of chutes and ladders, there are many opportunities for the infected to pull, or charge, or ride (or scare!) survivors backward in time.
so, my apologies if you find yourself a little frustrated. i can only encourage you to keep playing, and urge you to eventually play it in versus to reap these benefits.
the campaign contains 3 large maps: ddg1_tower, ddg2_gristmill, and ddg3_bluff. in this format, game length is varied enough that you're not pushing 90 minutes every time you play a match, but there is the potential to cover as much ground as an entire five map campaign.

In short, Drop Dead Gorges is this wicked versus-oriented campaign that is currently in open beta, made by this one guy Cincinnati (not me). If you are interested in some quick paced pickup games, download the map and join the steam group.
They've been looking to find new players to test this map, and I figured a little publicity couldn't hurt. I just joined in at the testing phase, and have been hooked.

Dude I love Left 4 Dead 1 but you gotta accept the fact that it's hardly played anymore and that most people just moved on to L4D2. I'm just sick of everyone going " oh durr I guess it's dead now/I wonder if Valve even cares about L4D anymore " well maybe if they opened up their eyes they would see that they don't. Seeing as L4D2 is the only one receiving the heavy updates.
Therefore you just gotta stop bitching about it and live with it. Like I said, I love Left 4 Dead 1 but there's hardly much hope for it anymore. Does that mean you can't play it? No. But stop whining about it.

I don't know if you're trying to spell "gorgeous" incorrectly or not, but if it is a typo, there's the proper spelling fr you.

I'm guessing it's a pun.
I didn't see many gorges in the screenshots but I don't know what a gorge is when it comes to geographical stuff, unless it's a pun on gorging yourself and all the zombies are now boomers.
The name is supposed to be a pun of the geographical feature "gorge", but is sort of a misnomer since only half of the second map takes place in a gorge.
In retrospect, I probably should have used the other promo image.

Also, a picture of where the gorges start:

Zombies eat brains, too, so they could be gorging on brains.
That's like, 3 puns in one title. This map has to be good.

It's not dead. I know a shit load of people that play it. Just because it has less players than L4D doesn't mean it's dead.

NickNak's Kokiri Forest campaign (http://www.l4dmaps.com/details.php?file=10098) inspired me to make these ports. well, that in combination with my avoiding studying for finals.
all models include custom face and eye posing and jigglebones where appropriate. sometime in the future when i have time i'll fix the bug with the right hand (it's such a pain to try and fix), fine tune the flexes and jigglebones, add some shaders and normal maps to the materials, and maybe even make some first-person models. by the time i got to rusl's model i got lazy and left his helmet on so i could skip the details on the top half of his head entirely, but right now i'm pretty satisfied with how everything turned out.
thanks MkTbKz and pappakurtz for help with flexes

Just... wow.
That would have been better if you'd used the regular green tunic Link instead of magic armor Link.
Come to think of it, Nick would be more likely to wear it. ($3000 dollar suit)

I have to agree, Link and Rusl need to switch places, I think it would be more fitting to have Link as Nick and Rusl as Ellis.

L4D2 has considerably better gameplay than L4D1, even though L4D2 has much worse maps. Not to mention there is going to be a huge update to L4D2 soon, adding in all the L4D1 maps.
