Does anyone else hope that L4D2 will be updated with the new source engine when Portal 2 gets released?
If I went into the l4d2 files and changed the special infected model files around would it work ingame or is it more complicated? E.g. rename the boomer to hunter and the hunter to jockey and so on, would the boomer act like the hunter?

New DLC? Where have I been?

There's no chance, Valve isn't going to update the game and work through all the code just to bring the engine up to date.

What happens after the Cold Stream (Of piss) DLC? Will L4D1 completely be wiped out?
What happens after the Cold Stream (Of piss) DLC? Will L4D1 completely be wiped out?
It looks like it. There will be absolutely no reason to play it anymore.
I think this is a Super Mario Galaxy 2 scenario.
Every good thing about first game put into the second game, made better with newer features.
Sooner or later everyone will just have to get used to buying the second game only because the first will be obsolete.
I'll be glad to see Dead Air be put into L4D2, should it ever be.
Favourite campaign for Versus.
Shame that L4D1 is rather.. well, dead. Sure, it was a great game with memorable characters, but Left 4 Dead 2 is just.. better.

Not necessarily. The first Super Mario Galaxy is actually part of the story. However, Super Mario Galaxy 2 doesn't seem like a prequel because at the end of the game, you supposedly meet Rosalina "for the first time", completely ignoring the events of the first game, but in the first game you also meet Rosalina "for the first time" in the beginning after Bowser attacks the little festival in Mushroom Kingdom. Is SMG2 a prequel or a sequel or an alternate reality type game or does it just not fit anywhere in the SMG storyline?
TL;DR
If a game is canon to its series, then it is important as every other canon game released in its series, even if one of the newer games contains content from one of the older games.

The Left 4 Dead 1 being dead joke is overused, but I completely agree with the superiority of Left 4 Dead 2. To be honest, other than the fact that you can see your legs when you look down in the first game, I really didn't like it as much as the second game.

Unless you're playing with bots.

Why didn't they include that in the second one?!
L4D and the Halo series are the only games I know of where you can see your feet.
Its my biggest problem with l4d2. I loved playing as Zoey and looking down in l4d1.

That and the viewmodels...Sequels are not supposed to be downgrades but upgrades.

I personally liked the new viewmodels and animations from Left 4 Dead 2. In L4D1, only the two shotguns had two different reload sets, one for a partial reload (Just putting in the new buckshot) and one for a full reload (Putting in the new buckshot and then pumping the gun/pulling the bolt back). You could empty an entire magazine in the Uzi or the M16 or the Hunting Rifle and there would be no bolt pull animation after putting in the new magazine, like there should be. When Left 4 Dead 2 came along, there was always bolt pull after every reload for all guns (Except the Hunting Rifle, as Valve just used the same animations from the first game). So in a way, the viewmodels were an upgrade too, for the most part. I'm still pretty pissed that you don't get to see your legs when you walk, though. Maybe Valve will be smart enough to add them in a future update.
I do not like the new viewmodels. The Uzis are right in your face, even with the new fov command they look out of place because they were literally designed to be right in your face. As for those tiny details, they were in l4d1 once and I agree they should return. The third person animations does pull the bolt etc. The l4d2 viewmodels just look wrong. Which is a shame because the l4d2 beta had proper viewmodels, but final has those "In your face" viewmodels.
L4D has a solid basic principle, what it needs now is fancy shit like models/animations/sounds/etc...
The gameplay is great but the looks are always the same and so arcady.
It's fine as it is. It just needs some gameplay tweaks, and fixes.

Two things that Valve will never address due to their love for a community comprised of whining nine year-olds who only want hats.

Shouldn't OP have called this thread the "Left 4 Thread?"
Yeah, those two and F.E.A.R.
Yeah, those three and Crysis.
Yeah, those three and Crysis.
And Thief: Deadly Shadows
killzone 3 and probably 2
L4D2's survival maps are complete utter shit. I can't wait for Cold Stream
Ehh what? You press a button and hold out in a corner I don't see how you can really expect something that great from them. Then again you're probably just talking about how the maps themselves are crappy set ups around the events instead of just something else on their own ( like the lighthouse. )
Anyone have the link to the thread with the advanced info to play with friends?

You mean that thread about advanced teamwork tactics? I think that's long gone, it was created back in 08/09 when the L4D demo was still going.
