Oh, and this was in the 3rd map: http://steamcommunity.com/id/RikohZX/screenshot/541773029917503309?tab=public Apparently the developers of Cold Stream forgot to put the textures for posters or something in, maybe they're wall writings or such. Also just barely visible are the static bodies and the giant, oversized blood decal on the floor that looks like a giant goo was spread everywhere or something.
I think most of the changes made in today's cold stream update were pretty positive. I especially liked the new finale and the removal of the 'mast of doom' While Cold Stream still has it's issues. (Mostly Stage 3 being built for people who love getting insta-kills as infected so the can spout 'OMG Karma Changer' memes) I don't quite get why all the people think that this map is some horrible piece of shit. No, It's not as good as 'I hate Mountains' or 'Suicide Blitz', but it's still a decent campaign.
Yeah I gotta agree. I'm not gonna waste my time in Cold Stream just to get Dead Air released early. Even if they iron out all the problems with that campaign I still just don't like the premise of it. Forest/swamp campaigns never really appealed to me in L4D. There's just nothing really interesting about most forest campaigns. I Hate Mountains was fun though, however they used a lot of interesting locations like the manor, the crypt, the lumberyard etc.
The fact that Cold Shit isn't considered canon by Valve makes it even less appealing. I want to find out what happens to the Survivors after The Parish, not something that never even fucking happened in the storyline.
Cool story, Rikoh. Though, it has never happened to me. Maybe that's because I have enough RAM and memory. Or.. Was your system as if it was on Windows 98 or older like DOS? Though your story WAS actually pretty awesome

Source games just hate me, crash randomly all the time without warning.
I played the campaign just to get the ticket, because honestly, theres plenty of other better campaigns out there, this one is just decent.
Has anyone else noticed this, or am I late? From rescue area: http://steamcommunity.com/id/SMasters9106/screenshot/578927726913107614 Close up in noclip: http://steamcommunity.com/id/SMasters9106/screenshot/578927726913109227/? Again, sorry if I'm late.

Get rid of this shitty map-maker, Valve.
Aw, man, this means I have to download crap.
Valve should've put Suicide Blitz 2 or Dead Before Dawn Too as an official campaign instead of Cold Stream. SB2 is pretty well-made, has even an awesome Portal 2 easter egg. DBDT is also pretty impressive. I really can't see what did Valve see in Cold Stream, it's just so... meh.

I don't recall industrial warehouses with semi trucks. I guess it's just new or I don't even remember it from the first time I played. [editline]6th July 2011[/editline]
I really can't see what did Valve see in Cold Stream, it's just so... meh.
Ditto, but apparently their idea was to take a community made campaign and have the community help out in fixing bugs and making it all around better. Imo this could have been executed a bit better if they didn't choose such a poor map maker. Like I said before, they can fix all of the problems but it's still a generic looking campaign with nothing really remarkable about it other than a moving stream.
Wait what area is this in the campaign? I don't recall industrial warehouses with semi trucks. I just played the campaign for the first time to get the achievement. My god, it's terrible. I cannot believe it's an official map, it's nowhere near "official" quality.
Yeah, I'm not getting a good vibe. I guess I'll either just let L4D2 sit there unupdated or eventually delete it.
Yeah, I'm not getting a good vibe. I guess I'll either just let L4D2 sit there unupdated or eventually delete it.
I'm sort of just letting it sit there, since I play custom campaigns with a friend.
Whoever is making Cold Stream needs to send the goddamn custom resources, or whatever you call them, to Valve. There's the picture I posted above, the pictures SMasters posted, and the radio for the finale still doesn't make any sound at all (which would make some players presume it's bugged and they're thus locked in the saferoom). I won't say Cold Stream sucks, it's just not fun at all. And seeing missing or bugged content really doesn't help its status in everyone's eyes.

Left 4 Dead 1 is alot better than 2 argue with me about this
no
Left 4 Dead 1 is alot better than 2 argue with me about this
Your orangenal.
Why is there so much negativity toward Cold Stream? I just played it over again with bots and it's getting a lot better. I love the new finale, so much more realistic now instead of a helicopter with a ladder the length of a skyscraper. It's a great finale, even on normal it got my heart racing. Of course, it still has its share of bugs but those will be fixed the more people actually play it and submit bug reports.
Left 4 Dead 1 is alot better than 2 argue with me about this
Give us back legs (optional), the L4D1 pistols (optional), fitting skins for the L4D2 SI in the L4D1 maps (optional), and all of the L4D1 maps ported with maybe some tweaks for rebalancing with the new SI (not optional). Viola.
The new changes to Cold Stream are...better. The new location for the rescue chopper is a hell of a lot better then the original one. The first time I played I could not find that fucking chopper. Now, you can plainly see it instead of being forced to wander around TRYING to find it while Tanks are chasing you. That being said, it still feels way too linear. I like how in the really good custom campaigns they include all the cool little side areas and alternate routes, and you get none of that here.
It's not just that the maps are linear, they're really small but they try to pack a lot into the space. The final area with the chopper is a good example. If the courtyard under the tower was a lot bigger, it would feel a lot better. Same with the flooded stairs (the best part of the campaign). It's too dark, and the stairs need to be wider.
Cold Steam is pretty fun in Versus. I don't know what Valve has changed since my last playthrough.

Yes, Cold Stream is now worth playing. Valve have completely changed the finale, it's less about running along in an extremely vague direction. You drop down a river, head through a small sewer and emerge in a small-scale military base before climbing a tower to board a Helicopter.
I hope the l4d1 common skins are ported for the maps.
Well, I was bored today and decided to look at some of the Featured Campaigns that Valve is currently supporting on their Official Dedicated servers. The first one I tried was Haunted Forest. I liked it, up until the part when this creepy face flashed on my screen for half a second and the moon turned into a massive baby's face with no eyeballs, so after shitting myself with pure fear, I deleted it and went looking for another campaign. I tried One 4 Nine next and it wasn't too bad. I loved the trippy visual effects during the finale when you touch the monolith, but after the second Tank in the finale when you all stand around the monolith with these fucked up facial expressions just left me thinking "What the fuck just happened?". Finally, I just played through Suicide Blitz 2. Holy shit. That was fucking amazing. I loved the locations like the bowling alley and the movie theater, and while I'm anything but a sports fan, the finale with the football Tanks and the Foam Finger melee weapon were very enjoyable. The only complaint I have about Suicide Blitz is the lack of Adrenaline Shots up until the finale, and I didn't spot a single Defibrillator throughout the entire campaign, but other than that, it was really good. It's campaigns like these that need to be officially part of the game, not Cold Shit. Either that, or make it a downloadable, optional campaign that Valve supports on their servers like they're doing with the aforementioned good campaigns. [editline]7th July 2011[/editline] Fuck yeah, page king.
