Give us back legs (optional), the L4D1 pistols (optional), fitting skins for the L4D2 SI in the L4D1 maps (optional), and all of the L4D1 maps ported with maybe some tweaks for rebalancing with the new SI (not optional). Viola.
ok well thanks for basically backing me up in saying l4d2 was a rushed cash grab
L4D2 better supports custom content. Although this still comes off as more reason to hate L4D2 for me. Why is Valve playing favorites with their fans? Some of us loved the aesthetic and idea of L4D. Why try and erase it and replace it with trailerpark-circus banjo fiddle remixes when all we want is the improved technical aspects of 2009 engine? Why didn't proper mod support occur to anybody when making the first game? Why does it take an entirely new release, one that replaces the whole REASON I'd consider modding the game, the inspiring content of which you will be modding, to have mod support and "more-balanced" gameplay and what-not? L4D has it's broken vpk-hack mod system, and amazing content to put yours along-side and use as a base starting point. L4D2 has flawless mod-support; but uninspiring, bizarre content that you will have to work from, and that your content has to be consistent with, technically and aesthetically. At least some of L4D1 will trickle its way into L4D2, but not all of it. Seriously, making a mod for Rochelle is depressing knowing you have to re-use her "bend-down by 45 degrees at all times" animation set. Ported Zoey also inherited this. Valve hates female character design.
We asked for 20,000 players to get the Stream Crosser achievement by Sunday night. You started playing at 10am on Wednesday morning. Four and half hours later you surpassed the 20,000 target. By 5pm you passed 30,000. By this morning at 10am – a mere 24 hours later you hit 60,774! Thanks! This is a great stress test on Cold Stream. If you can, keep playing and submitting bugs this weekend. We have a bunch of bug reports and feedback – seems some of you don’t believe in purple and black checkerboard paintings. For Cold Stream the campaign this means we can fix those bugs, continue tweaking some game play and do our final performance optimization pass. The rest of the campaigns included in the DLC are also being worked on as we modify some locations and make some optimization improvements on them as well. Since you hit your mark, this means we are going to unlock Dead Air early. We are going to try and release it as early as possible but will release it on July 22nd the latest. It isn’t currently ready for release as we have been working on The Terminal and Finale maps and need to test them more internally. What else is coming? We have been working on and testing a new version of the Dark Carnival finale and some gameplay changes for finales in general. We want to get some more of these changes out and tested on the PC. Once those are solid and our new campaigns are ready, we will go into the certification process on the Xbox 360 and then release. What date is that? Hard to say but with your help it just got closer. *While we crossed streams we did avoid total protonic reversal. Good job everybody.
So July 22nd is the latest for Dead Air to come out! July 23rd it is
seems some of you don’t believe in purple and black checkerboard paintings
Oh Valve :v:
I'm glad other people ended up unlocking Dead Air early because I spent 3 hours playing through Cold Shit on advanced last night and when I finally got to the end, the game crashed as the helicopter was taking off and I didn't get the achievement. I hate this campaign.
We have been working on and testing a new version of the Dark Carnival finale and some gameplay changes for finales in general.
I hope they'll finally fix how broken that finale is for versus.
Encountered a bug where I can't exit the safehouse in the 4th level of Cold Stream. :suicide: [editline]8th July 2011[/editline] OH wait I'm retarded never mind.
It's not really your fault. It happened to me too, because the radio is unnoticeable without any sound.
I just played Suicide blitz 2 for the first time. It's really fucking good.
Holy shit cold stream is awful. After a boring and uneventful first map I am greeted by 1 hit kill rock falling on the entire team, endless hordes coming from a canal that's confusing to navigate in and leads to a bottomless pit. Is this supposed to make the campaign longer without clever map design ?
Yeah Cold Stream is pretty bad... Suicide Blitz on the other hand...
I just still don't know how Valve fails to see that the biggest part of the community HATES Cold Stream, the mapper must feel pretty bad though.
Thing is, the mapping isn't half bad, but there are so many errors and mistakes. It seems they've got a half decent mapper, then given them a too small a tine frame to complete the campaign in.
I just still don't know how Valve fails to see that the biggest part of the community HATES Cold Stream, the mapper must feel pretty bad though.
They only care about what SPUF says, and as far as I can tell, they love Cold Shit.
Holy Shit. Suicide Blitz 2 is amazing. I lost Gnome Chompski on the 2nd Map at the Boat Crescendo (Curse you Charger!), but holy shit.
I forgot, Suicide Blitz 2 is the campaign with the Portal 2 easter egg, isn't it?
So guys, yesterday I got both L4D. I'm still downloading it and I want to play the campaign mode online. Who wants to join? I also want to try those campaigns you are talking about, specially Suicide Blitz 2 to see the Portal easter egg.
I forgot, Suicide Blitz 2 is the campaign with the Portal 2 easter egg, isn't it?
Ok, I'll take take the agrees as a "Yes". Now, which chapter is it in and where?

Yeah, personally, I'm still incredibly confused as to why Cold Stream is being supported over much better custom campaigns. My personal favorites are I Hate Mountains and Dead Before Dawn, but I haven't tried out Suicide Blitz 2 yet...
what's with l4d2 and the loss of music and sounds on some campaigns. It's very annoying Also played cold stream, it looks like it could have been a great campaign but there are too many flaws.
L4D2 always seems to have a lower quality physics engine than other source games. I mean, when objects collide with each other, they usually trip out and fling each other.
Well, it's a bit too shiny for my tastes and it probably wouldn't work in Versus and the like, but someone's released new pistol models for L4D2: http://www.gamebanana.com/skins/110174

I tried them out this morning, in case you're wondering how I know that.
Those are my pistols and they were released last night. They use walking animations too, unlike the original junk-yard-mismatched L4D2 pistols.
They certainly look nice, but the animations are sub-par if you ask me. I tried them out this morning, in case you're wondering how I know that.
What about them? Are there clipping errors, speed too fast at parts, too far away? Anything that's not, "make fit-in more like the old, bad pistols theme," I can change. Reloading and draw sequences are pretty much final, but timing and hand movements can be tweaked.

Completed Suicide Blitz 2 for the third time now, by far my favorite campaign.
So I want to know the next custom campaign I should try, is Suicide Blitz as good as I hear it is?
So I want to know the next custom campaign I should try, is Suicide Blitz as good as I hear it is?
Hell yes, it's definitely worth the download. Wanna play through together? :buddy:
