However, the male L4D1 characters [i]do[/i] use a bizarre and unsightly mish mash of L4D1 and L4D2 male (just Coach's, I believe) animations. That's why they tend to look okay most of the time until they pick up the sniper rifle and suddenly begin running around like a heavy set black man.

I post about this every two seconds to help the few informed people on the steam forums not get drowned out by the fanboyism "you just obsessed wit zoeway lololol". :wink: The men DO have their exact bone structure from the first game though... while Zoey doesn't... which is just odd. Those sniper rifle animations always bugs the hell out of me on ALL of the L4D survivors... plus them NEVER shooting from the hip above 40 health was a key visual. And that isn't to say the glitches on the L4D2 survivors don't go unnoticed either. What is Valve using to work with / port animations? Notepad? I wouldn't be surprised given everything else with Source.
Wasn't it said Zoey in L4D2 was given some of Coach's animations? I'm pretty sure I read that was the case somewhere.

When you're in the safe room and you're playing as Francis, sometimes he'll say "Someone lock the god damn door!", but the [I]captions[/I] say "Someone lock the goddman door!" I've always thought that putting on closed captions made me a cheater, since I could tell when enemies spawned in multiplayer.

There wasn't any more walking around a corner dead into a tank and shitting yourself, because you always knew when one spawned.

I wouldn't be surprised given everything else with Source.[/QUOTE] At least they put the effort into moving their holsters from their hip to their thigh in the models so they match the new animations. A long time ago before the dlc came out there was a mod that ported the l4d1 survivors into the game. The original animations looked fine and I'm pretty sure the maker of the mod found a way to include the new l4d2 animations without overwriting the old ones. Everything looked great except since the l4d1 armatures didn't have the attachments for melee weapons, the weapons ended up just attaching themselves to the survivor's origin, a simple fix that I think could be remedied in the compile code. I was thinking about porting the original models/animations as an addon but decompiling the old models for editing tends to erase all facial animation data, which is a very long and tedious process to try and recreate. And I'd rather have the l4d1 survivors have the new altered animations than have them have their old animations while staring off into the distance with a blank look on their face.
