At least they put the effort into moving their holsters from their hip to their thigh in the models so they match the new animations. A long time ago before the dlc came out there was a mod that ported the l4d1 survivors into the game. The original animations looked fine and I'm pretty sure the maker of the mod found a way to include the new l4d2 animations without overwriting the old ones. Everything looked great except since the l4d1 armatures didn't have the attachments for melee weapons, the weapons ended up just attaching themselves to the survivor's origin, a simple fix that I think could be remedied in the compile code. I was thinking about porting the original models/animations as an addon but decompiling the old models for editing tends to erase all facial animation data, which is a very long and tedious process to try and recreate. And I'd rather have the l4d1 survivors have the new altered animations than have them have their old animations while staring off into the distance with a blank look on their face.
Attachments can be re-added and moved around exactly the way you'd think, with little to no effort at all. The ported original survivors don't holster melee weapons on their back, and Zoey doesn't holster pistols, but my mods of Bill and Zoey do. How ridiculous is it the stock versions don't already do this? Facial animations are pretty hard to get back overall. IMO the modeling part, even from scratch, is way easier than the qc part, which a couple of us already went through and have the info. Animations screw-up hard in multiplayer. The anims need to be compiled in the same order as the original models, or whatever modded files the server is using, or else different animations play in the place of others. Francis will continuously incap/revive/whatever himself instead of taking footsteps for example. :pwn:

Still, that comparison of L4D1 to L4D2 Zoey is really striking, especially when you consider gamers tend to judge the female characters more harshly than the male ones. I wonder why Valve would take shortcuts with Zoey when the only reason, it seems like, Valve didn't use her "anim_teenangst" animations is because the baseball and cricket bats were slightly off. I did some experimenting and the L4D2 "teenangst" animations do indeed work fine with Rochelle's rig, so I'm guessing swapping her animations to Rochelle's was easier than fixing the baseball bat animations. Unfortunately, animations are calculated server-side, so if there is a mismatch between server and client, animations will not play correctly for the client. I was hoping that I could $include Zoey's animations first and then $include Rochelle's to fill out any missing animations, but the teen_angst anims are ordered completely differently from Rochelle's. $include order matters, since the ones listed first overwrite any redundant animations listed later. Also, if the server doesn't have an animation that the client has, then that animation simply won't play for the client; I tried including incap animations for the L4D male survivors, but it doesn't work online, unfortunately. Too bad decompiling animations in general breaks them horribly, and we can't even decompile the .ani format used to store anims.
Taank is an alright mutation except when people stand in doorways as a tank, which they usually do.
The mutation is freaking crazy. It's almost impossible, still fun though.
Nope, because the Survivor you wish to take control of must be present in the map.
To select your character, make an online (friends-only) lobby, make it local host, select your character, and then do map whatever mutation1 via console. You will load as the character you select in game, but you won't be able to do any cheats.
Does anyone know how I can play L4D 2 with a normal joystick? Not a Xbox one, just a default one.
Looks like there's something for the foot-fetish crowd.
And this is supposedly the part where I finish the cycle by mentioning either the Boomer or the Spitter.
What about the Tank or the Charger?

I will never understand foot fetishes. Well, I'll never understand the worst parts of the L4D community (I.e, 85% of the community) in general, but you get my point.
In case anyone doesn't want to wait for Valve to fix them, try my Melee-Fix pack: This simple pack fixes melee attachments for the L4D1 survivors, adds a pistol attachment to Zoey, and adds incap animations for the L4D1 male survivors (works only in offline/solo play). DOWNLOAD: (as a pack) l4dmaps.com OR (as separate VPKs) gamebanana.com Of course these models only work on unofficial servers, but they should not overwrite any custom skins you might be using for the L4D1 survivors.
I got a rant to make. Has anyone suddenly noticed a massive influx of non-experienced players in Expert mode? If not, don't you at least rage when they join an expert server? I'm not the best player in the world but I'm pretty good. I've noticed when ever I play in an Expert server, the people haven't got a single clue what they're doing. I always last the longest, if I don't, it's because I'm taking on the tank or a horde on my own while my teammates run away and hide - no joke ... they run and isolate themselves and stay there until I kill everything for them. Lately we haven't even gone very far from the safe room because of them. We last maybe, 3-4 minutes after we leave the safe room because they keep getting incapped and I gotta save them, then they use up their health packs so quickly. Not kidding, we got half way through the round and I still had 100hp and my medkit ... they not only used their medkit but also got incapped again, so their health was deteriorating. Most annoying thing about these players in expert is ... the friendly fire. They keep shooting me and each other ... and no it's not because I run in the way, they just have bad aiming. What happened about an hour ago ... some guy used a freaking nade launcher and shot it at our feet to kill one zombie ... we all lost I think 20% of hp, well I did anyway. Also, you know how in some stages there is a typical strategy people like to use, which works ... for example in the finale of dead center, you collect the cans and throw them down, rather than collect one, run back, load it, run back for another etc... These new comers do the worst strategy ever ... no wonder we keep failing. Experienced players ... where you all at?!
If they're new to the game you can't blame them for not knowing map specific strategies and take-down tactics for certain enemies, but the fact that they run and hide seems like they're just being idiots on purpose. Also I know I've said this a million times in many different L4D threads but you gotta play with your friends. Especially on expert. If you play with 2 or more pubs on expert or versus you're likely to die. I know everybody doesn't have a 24/7 available group of friends up for playing expert mode, but it's really the only way you're gonna get through it. Fortunately though anytime I've played with a group of friends and there's one slot open we tend to get a decent pub player that can cooperate and play well.
Well from my experience, pubbers in expert are actually pro which is why I didn't mind at first. But lately inexperienced players are swarming in which is killing it for me. I can actually blame them if they're new to the game. If they're new, they should have the common sense to stay away from expert mode. Yeah some do run and hide to be idiots, but that's rare, most of the time you can tell it's just their way of trying to stay alive.
How are they gonna get use to expert mode if they're pubs and have never played on expert mode with real people? Gotta start somewhere :colbert:
;31465572']Experienced players ... where you all at?!
Playing WoW. Last time I really played L4D2 was not long after The Sacrifice. There's not enough purely fun stuff to do to balance against the hard stuff I want to do for my completionism.
I played every official map 45 times, and there's rarely people playing custom maps that are good, so I don't play L4D2 online much. And I'm not experienced.
Anyone want to play some L4D with me?
Anyone want to play some L4D with me?
I will!
When I click on your steam icon under your avatar, it says it isn't found.
Same for yours!
Fix'd. I would enjoy playing custom campaigns please!
L4D1 custom campaign? You gotta play this http://www.l4dmaps.com/details.php?file=1693
L4D1 custom campaign? You gotta play this http://www.l4dmaps.com/details.php?file=1693
I'll check this bad boy out
Do you guys know any server like the Skorpion1976 server? That is overloaded with fun pluggins and stuff? I got into the server, and suddenly got voted to be banned, which was approved by 2 out of 3 voters, so now Im looking for a new server like that to play. [editline]3rd August 2011[/editline] Talking about L4D2
Same for yours!
Okay, my name is Poor Mans Sniper on steam since I can't seem to get that icon to work.
So I made a Space Core Soundpack for the Hunter in L4D2, figured I'd post a download link here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1HQY7M5W Let me know how you like it, first time making a soundpack.
