I downloaded the Killing Floor playermodels for Coach and Nick from this video. When I install them, the soundpack doesn't work and the models are invisible. Does anyone have a solution for it?
The Briar and Davin survivor models do not come with voice sound packs. They never did. The models don't work because I need to repack the vpk files. I've done that just now and updated the links in the video's description, so redownload them and they'll work.
thanks man
Do you think you could add the voice pack too or is it too hard?
A voice pack won't happen, I'm afraid to say. The only sane approach to doing this would be to edit the talker script files. However, while that by itself would be a mountain of drudgery, it wouldn't even work online since the server's script files will take precedence. The insane (and massively hackish/ghetto) method which guarantees online compatibility would be to replace every single relevant voice wave file. The combined total between Coach's and Nick's lines comes to about 5000 lines (not including The Passing), so that's out of the question.

And who do we thank for it? Why Valve and their amazing .vpk system! Why couldn't they have just gone .bsp > folder > .vpk like they did for the .gcf file system.

It may be easier to install/uninstall mods this way, but the GCF system was much easier to deal with because all you had to do was drag and drop the folders into the right directory and bam, you're good to go.
Actually, I think it was more because VPK allows dynamic loading whereas GCF had to be cached first.

In the morning?
I knew it was gonna be released before the end of August
just updated with blood harvest
L4D1 will probably become F2P. I mean it feels like Demo to L4D2 now.
Anyone else think they're making these new maps necessarily difficult? In some cases, Nintendo Hard.
Like how on at the end of the 4th map in BH, when you get to the Train Station, a permanent Horde Crescendo is triggered without warning. No horns, no music, no mob yell. You just hear the Infected coming, you kill them, then more come, and more, and more, and more, and more, they never end. And there's no trigger, it just happens.
[editline]12th August 2011[/editline]
Oh yeah, and I don't like how they're restricting the maps either, forcing you to take one route.
At the least they should make it use the director.

I think V2 of this thread should be named "L4D Megathread - We Already Know L4D1 Was Abandoned Stop Talking About It".

The same 'perma-horde' happens on two of the Cold Stream maps for me, and I got one in Dead Air although I don't remember where. Considering I don't play with friends much (due to lacking friends who play L4D), the bots just make it that much more of a pain in the ass when you, leading the group, are having to run headfirst into the hordes to progress. Worse yet if the bots aren't covering your front, only your back. :saddowns:
Hunter Wallpaper if anyone wants it:

Also is there any chance of another DLC from Valve?

Also is there any chance of another DLC from Valve?
After the final release of Cold Stream and the L4D1 campaigns? Highly unlikely, unless they add in something that takes place after The Parish.
It's likely. Around the time when The Sacrifice was coming out they continuously would talk about how this isn't going to be the last DLC for the L4D series, so I'm sure they'll be making more.
Personally I hope they do something with the L4D2 survivors set after The Parish, unless they meant for that to be the end. I don't want anymore 2-3 map industrial sprawls in between campaigns. They can be fun but I want to see a new location that doesn't have to do with train cars and shipping containers.
[editline]13th August 2011[/editline]
Unless of course by future DLC they meant the addition of the L4D1 campaigns and Cold Stream...
But industrial settings are the best settings.
[editline]13th August 2011[/editline]
Also cities and rooftops.
I don't get it , I can play BC2 seamlessly, but when I try to play l4d2 with some bros I always freeze up during the game, the kind of freeze where your screen is still and whatver sound played at the freeze time will loop, this goes on for a good 3~5 minutes making the game pretty much unplayable.
Can anyone help me out?
I want atleast two more DLC's for both games. A prequel to No Mercy that shows how the L4D1 survivors met up and I want them to introduce eachother. And another one that takes place after The Parish for the L4D2 survivors.
A prequel for No Mercy would be so awesome. Like in Dead Center where they call each other by how they look and give the SI temporary names.
A prequel for No Mercy would be so awesome. Like in Dead Center where they call each other by how they look and give the SI temporary names.
But I thought even before the zombies overran everyone that the news reported about the names commonly used? (The L4D2 survivors mention the SI names being made up by the media, he "heard they were called that on the news")
I would like the "by-sight" descriptions instead of names though, unless they had a break like in the elevator in L4D2 where the characters all introduce themselves.
I think the L4D team are just busy focussing on Cold Stream right now, I doubt they are planning any future DLC as of yet. However that's not to say there won't be.
I think the Cold Stream campaign is a hint to the future plans of L4D. It's a way of ensuring they can still deliver DLC without it being a major financial hassle. They can get community members to do the mapping, and since they'll be non-sequitur they won't have to pay the voice actors for additional lines.
On the other hand, I still want to see a canon campaign that takes place after The Parish featuring the L4D2 survivors. Something that takes place in Mexico wouldn't be a far stretch, and it has the added benefit of introducing a new locale, as well as including some Día de los Muertos assets, sombrero-wearing Tanks, and of course pill-filled pinatas.

Valve are such cheaters. The horde at the end of BH4 is entirely scripted.
I just played it on Last Man and once I got to the Train Bridge, I suddenly got mobbed.
Luckily a nice Charger took me 50m through the Horde to the Caboose's doorstep, where he let me go, then I went inside and won :D
