The hands are pulling out a stock that doesn't even exist, and a gun like that looks hard to hold with just one hand by the grip, even if it's just for a second. It makes them look more ugly than they already were.

Still looks better imo. I'm aware he pulls out no stock at all, but that's honestly ignorable because I'm so used to the animation in general. :P

I would still prefer it over the oversized guns myself, but each to their own.
Although, the Military Sniper looks arse on the Hunting Rifle anims.

You know that valve added a console command to change the fov of the viewmodel?
cl_viewmodel_fov.
The problem with the FOV command is that it doesn't solve the real problem. The problem with the viewmodels is that they're positioned too close to the camera, making it appear that the guns are glued to your cheek. You can use the FOV command to make them look like they're further from your face, but this can result in really warped looking guns and arms.

Not to mention the fact that the command affects EVERY weapon, so the better viewmodels (pump shotguns) are affected the same as the bad viewmodels (sniper rifle, magnum).

True.
I just set mine to where I want and it works for all the weapons.
I've had L4D2 since the day it came out and I've never really cared that much about FOV :v.
I mean I guess it's all personal preference, but I actually like the way Valve setup the viewmodels for L4D2.

It wasn't so good campaign IMO. I mean it had only 2 "long" maps and didn't have anything special to remember it (Church guy) so I kind of understand the no hype.
