The problem is the fact that you're playing pub games.
Play with your friends instead. It's so much better, not only gameplay-wise, but you'll have hours of fun.
I'm assuming it has to do with trolls because as soon as I join a different server and even mention or hint that im always kicked, BOOM INSTANT VOTEKICK
Last pub game I've played on L4D1 was with two guys who lawled at me for being too broke to own L4D2, even though I own both games, and kicked me.
This was years ago. I only play with friends now on both L4Ds. Seems like pubs nowadays have gotten much shittier.
people tend to kick you as soon as you make a single mistake, and assume you're the worst player ever (i.e. if you miss a death-charge it's p. much an auto-kick).
Guys I have problems with my L4D2. I can't play it for the reason it won't start and since today, my Steam says "No connection" and the games don't start.

Steam is under maintenance today. Expect a lot of "No connection".
Play with some Japanese folks. They're down to earth polite, "sorry" and "ty" throughout the game. The only problem would be the awful ping.
My best L4D game was with a Japanese party. I don't understand Japanese, they didn't understand English but we understood L4D. We managed to beat BH on expert with all players escaping. After that, two of them sent me a message, "gg".

They also have some cool custom campaigns on Japanese servers, too. Usually puzzle maps. (They're not as into shooting nonstop, Japanese prefer more variety.)

More variety? You mean like crappy J-RPGs where you grind for hours on end without progressing the plot even an inch?
How many people still play this game?
I'm thinking about buying the 1+2 pack from the deal, and even if there's not many people playing it, I'd still like to play by myself with bots using mods and custom maps..
Both are still alright popular, though I only know 2 for sure. 1 should be fine, if you have friends definitely though I don't know why you would buy it when its getting merged in to 2.
I don't know why people rag on pubs. Players are definitely bad, but its funny when your team praises you for being the first Tank to get a survivor down to red, let alone incapacitate 3.

I say it was worth it. Theres some awesome custom campaigns for l4d1 and 2. They both have a different "feel".

Yesterday I played Versus after a long time. I will say right now I hate this mode because unless you play with friends your teammates will rage at the first mistake you make. The only reason I sometimes try it out is it does let you play as Infected.
Anyway, my brother got L4D2 recently and he played yesterday with me. It was basically our first L4D2 game together. He wasn't good (Shooting car alarms, not rushing forward, all the stuff you have to do in versus you don't really do in campaign. He didn't play that one much, too.) and he went idle for about 30 seconds. You can imagine how our teammates raged, kept calling him newbie, after I didn't kick him I suddenly became noob, too. Long story short, they weren't spectacular either but once my brother left I was kicked immediately.
When I join Versus game I expect to loose but have fun as the Infected. Here in Europe you often get mixed nationalities in one game and communication is most of the time at zero. All the experienced players think others will know how to rush, protect each other and not fall for traps. Campaign is much simpler. It really pisses me off how some people start talking to you only to call you names because you made a common mistake or the Infected pulled off a very good strike.
That's why I rarely play Versus. I want to have fun playing L4D2, not reading misspelled insults and hearing kids raging.
Versus on L4D2 is... odd. The only time you can have fun on pubs is when everyone is of equal skill and it really is a close game. Otherwise it's either you're losing badly or winning by a lot, and neither is fun.

Suicide Blitz is amazing, especially if you take the gnome with you to the final map where you can play through the Portal 2 easter egg.
