Isn't "engineer" the name for Ellis's model?
no it's Mechanic
So a user on valvetime.net named ukuuku posts this: http://www.valvetime.net/threads/source-2-left-4-dead-2-prototype-screenshots-leaked.244266/#post-3416069 Then posts: Several days ago on #valvearg a user by the same name hopped on for a second and posted: :tinfoil:
Phew, 3 years old. By now it probably has several improvements.
That file list is pretty old isn't it?
Well fuck, 2011? My hype kinda died..
Well fuck, 2011? My hype kinda died..
Why? All it means is that this has been cooking in the pipeline for a couple of years longer than we though and that the current build is likely vastly greater than what we see here
Well fuck, 2011? My hype kinda died..
Your hype should be tenfold.
Well, I just sorta wish that Valve would actually confirm it. As I'm hearing that its faked, etc.. Its been almost 10 years, I just want a little something, something.
What would really piss me off is that they don't include Real Time lighting rendering in the SDK... That take so much time to compile every lighting adjustment. Almost every other game engine use it already so why not
I don't care if it's not beautiful. Source engine is amazing to me because they got everything right: movement, maps, mods, etc
You have obviously never climbed a latter before.
You have obviously never climbed a latter before.
Right != Accurate I pity people who have a problem using source brush ladders, since they're the easiest things to exploit.
is it just me or does valve think that adding lots of foliage to everything makes it look modern and good?
portal 2 and crysis 3 basically
You have obviously never climbed a latter before.
Excuse me, but half the fun is shooting up ladders when you also press a or d while you climb.
Damn, I'm getting older. Remember thinking of L4D2 graphics as the best thing ever. [sp]How Can Source 2 Be Real If Our Leaks Aren't Real[/sp]
I am much more interested in the file list alleged leaks, I hope for another anon hl2 fiasco. But perhaps im being to optimistic there.
I am much more interested in the file list alleged leaks, I hope for another anon hl2 fiasco. But perhaps im being to optimistic there.
hmmMmmMMMmmmm valve getting all their hard work leaked online by some dick doesn't sound like a fun time to me
I would of been happy for a simple HL3 announcment but at this point I would just rather a leak, the anon leak gave us more insight into hl2s development than anything ever could and to me that was exciting.
I guess even Valve employees get a tad annoyed with extremely long time frames.
Reminder: porting content from one engine to another doesn't make it look any better other than shading effects that may or may not be implemented for that piece of content and the scene's lighting which is usually changed in order to make the scene look new. [editline].[/editline] cboat better leak some tool screenshots
You have obviously never climbed a latter before.
Only an issue with a controller imo. I do just dandy with kb+m, but oh boy, hopping off a ladder with a controller? Yeah, right. [editline]27th January 2014[/editline]
it also meant a whole lot of content that wasn't supposed to be released was released and Valve suffered an estimated 250 million in damages You can be as angry as you want at Valve but wishing for a potentially destructive leak of the same scale as the 2002 leak is just ridiculous
It's not a ridiculous notion, people are just impatient and greedy.
Reminder: porting content from one engine to another doesn't make it look any better other than shading effects that may or may not be implemented for that piece of content and the scene's lighting which is usually changed in order to make the scene look new.
even though it's lighting that can be accomplished with the existing source engine the screenshot is more convincing that it's redone due to the added and more detailed elements with more polygons
you can't light models like that in source
Right != Accurate I pity people who have a problem using source brush ladders, since they're the easiest things to exploit.
They were ported back for css originally and other MP games hense why you cant use them in single player games.
If you outfitted Portal 2 with some sort of real time ray tracing, a made the foliage much more dynamic, I'd say you could for the most part keep the same content and it would look a ton better. Granted Source 2 isn't ray tracing, but that's just an example.

Welp. Time to get a job to save for a computer that can handle the stress. Unlike my drunken father. Zing... :<
Would be nice, though what I'd really like to see is an entirely streamlined 3DS Max / Blender / whatever -> Source process, without touching anything like .qc files. That, and stable compilers (if we still need those). Oh yeah, and less limits. Make the player's computer the limiting thing, not prehistoric artificial map limits.
This is exactly what I want too! I loathe the process of trying to scale in the separate programs of blender and Hammer, it'd be a dream come true if Blender was actually integrated (yeh, that's a long shot, but it is open-source...) More realistically, I'd love an automated qc progress :)
arin.exe whut who wrote all that code?
I made ARIN, the rest is valve code.
