So how do the booster packs work? Do they drop when you play games? Do they drop when you're online and you played any card-included games within the last week? Do they drop when you've just been online? At random moments? I've seen little to no info about these things other than 'we now have booster packs that contain 3 cards'.
All I've seen is "they drop if you've used Steam in the last week and used up all your drops" It's a little unclear to me what "used Steam" means (played a card-having game? played any game? been logged in?), but apart from that I think I get it.

Just click on "How do I earn card drops", and the dialog will tell you if you are eligible to receive booster packs for that game. More information about booster packs has also been added to the Trading Card FAQ. No game count / game count of 0 - We've fixed an issue where some users had a game count of 0 after yesterday's update. Game count off by 1 - The "Company of Heroes 2 Beta" was counting towards everyone's game count. This has been fixed, but that means your game count on your profile may be 1 lower than it was earlier today. Level colors for levels 20-29, and 30-39 - The colors for these levels have been changed to match our intended design. 20-29 is now orange (was yellow), 30-39 is now yellow (was purple).
but i used up all my drops?
Every single game on my badge page says "You are not currently eligible for a booster pack," even though I've gotten all my drops for those games.
i'm sure it's a bug, either that or they're explaining something wrong
Says i'm eligible for all mine, and I just have my drops. It's probably a bug, like the delayed unlocking of the game count badge for some of my friends.
also the only game i'm able to view the badge progression for on the badges page is super meat boy. no other game shows up.
looks like booster pack eligibility is working now
so if I craft a badge, since I've got all my drops I'll still get booster packs, right?
looks like booster pack eligibility is working now
and its not
and its not
works fine here
I still want to know how the exp gained from the game collector badge works. Since I've seen people with 100 games get about 300 exp, and I got 200 games but I've only gotten 400 exp.
Do you need to be opted into the Steam Beta to get these Booster packs?
Do you need to be opted into the Steam Beta to get these Booster packs?
If you were invited to the trading card beta, you are opted in the Steam Beta.
If you were invited to the trading card beta, you are opted in the Steam Beta.
I checked my Beta Participation and it says I am not currently participating in any betas, but I still have my cards and such

It's probably base exp for the milestone + some kind of multiplier for the amount of games.
just give the information, so you can sell more
It's asking me for a "Taxpayer Identification Number" which I do not have.
I think I had that but I think I couldn't/ didnt have to do it since I am Dutch and it is probably something for USA users.

For U.S. citizens and residents, as discussed above, we are obligated to collect certain taxpayer identifying information from those who engage in more than 200 transactions in a calendar year, but no information is reported to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service unless your gross revenues from such sales exceed $20,000. Ultimately, the responsibility for determining any income tax liabilities, if any, which you may have rests with you, and so if you are concerned about the issue you should consult your own tax advisor. Do I have any obligation to collect or pay sales, VAT, or other transaction taxes based on transactions I engage in in the Community Market? Different countries have different rules relating to the taxation of digital transactions. Most jurisdictions do not require individuals to register for, collect or pay sales, VAT or use taxes in connection with occasional sales where they do not qualify as "professional" sellers. However, the ultimate responsibility for determining any tax requirements that may apply to sales you make in the Community Market rests with you, and so if you are concerned about the issue you should consult your own tax advisor. Note that, with respect to our administrative fee, if any sales, VAT, or other taxes are due on that payment, we will be responsible for paying those taxes.
Also, I'm now eligible for booster packs. Yay! Also also, it seems foils have really gone down in price. Has Valve increased their drop rate?
Simple issue of demand and supply, not everyone likes the high price. And everyone can now get foil cards regardless of levels.

This means all the features you all have been helpful in testing are going to be made available to everyone on Steam. We'll be adding Trading Cards to several games that day as well (instead of the normal Tuesday & Thursday release). We'll be continuing to iterate on existing features and add new ones after the release. There are a few things we have talked about previously that we really wanted to get to, that have now been pushed till post release - Trade Offers, and the Card Binder. They will still get done we just don't have an exact timeline on that. For now until release we're going to focus on fixing up all the existing bugs and issues. Please continue to give feedback and comments, it's all been very helpful. This group will continue to exist post-release as the place to talk about cards and get announcements on any changes. Making trading cards available to all Steam users is a step towards an event we think everyone can be excited about...
