I don't know what the drop rate is, but I got two cards after playing about an hour and a half of Dota 2.
So does it work backwards? (do you get cards if you have a certain amount of game time or does it start counting the moment you start playing since you got in beta?)

I didn't get any cards until I started playing since I got into the beta, despite having about 20 hours of Dota 2 played in the past 2 weeks.
Already made 5€ just selling a couple of cards that aren't even worth much :v:

Here's the thing, right now only a handful of people got invites to give out, and most of them are selling them at very cheap prices, in a couple of days, if a new wave doesn't come out, their value will go up quite a bit, before the third wave and so on, once everyone gets invites just by being invited, that's when it turns into a Dota 2. I still remember when I had access to the Dota 2 beta and a couple of invites before most people (due to being on the steam translation team) and I managed to trade those 2 invites for a $50 game each, both people knew it was a beta and nothing more and yet they paid me 50 bucks for an invite, I can hardly call it a scam, back then I talked to them through chat and that's how the deal was made, now there's the market but people should know what a beta is before they spend their money on it.
tl;dr - If I can make money from nothing, why shouldn't I?
