Yes, as long as you're status in steam chat says you are playing the game you will receive cards, you don't have to play.

yes, although the drop rate for multiple games isn't any faster. you will get one drop from any of the games you are running at random, not all at the same time. it's not faster than running each game individually but does save installing the games.

Because everyone can buy the games with cards for $5 so everyone and their mother has the cards and are trying to sell them at the same time. It doesn't help that there are people who want their card to sell extremely quickly and will undercut people by 10 cents sometimes and then everyone else follows along which fucks over everyone.
