Expedition won't work for me. Anyone wanna help me? :saddowns:
My only problem with ASCII Sector is that I don't know how to land... So I can buy stuff or whatever but only in the first area... Then I can't really dock.
You press C (communicate) and select the planet you're landing on, then request an automatic landing.
Dwarf Fortress isn't a roguelike. Having ASCII graphics doesn't make game a roguelike. Also NETHACK (Slash'em) Basically, one of best roguelikes around. Download
Dwarf Fortress is close enough to a roguelike to be considered one. [editline]29th April 2011[/editline] I think this is the right place to post this:
Added these; [release] NetHack [img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/00/Nethack_releasing_a_djinni.png[/img_thumb] NetHack is a roguelike released in 1987, descending from Hack (which is descended from Rogue). It's very popular, and has a similar objective to Rogue and Hack; you're in a dungeon searching for the Amulet of Yendor. NetHack is very in depth and detailed in terms of weapons, armor, spells, tools, and many other things. Download [/release] [release] ADOM [img_thumb]http://thinkmoult.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/adom.gif[/img_thumb] ADOM, short for Ancient Domains Of Mystery. The gameplay is a lot similar to NetHack. The player can choose from ten different races and twenty different classes, which affect the gameplay in both subtle and obvious ways. Has more of a storyline than NetHack. Download [/release] [release] Incursion [img_thumb]http://www.incursion-roguelike.org/ss%20-%20terrain.gif[/img_thumb] A little out of line in terms of a generic roguelike, it's a sci-fi rogue from 1992. The player is abducted by alien slave traders. Together with other captors you must kill the ship crew while flying through space. Download [/release] [release] Transcendence [img_thumb]http://neurohack.com/transcendence/screenshots/images/System_Map_Screenshot.jpg[/img_thumb] A space combat and exloration game, very graphical. Randomly generated star systems, hundreds of different enemy ships with distinct abilities, loot wrechkage for more powerful weapons, armor and shields; or purchase them at space ports. Escort ships, smuggle illegal items for the black market, or join the Commonwealth Fleet and fight against the Ares Orthodoxy. Download [/release]
Transcendence looks awesome, downloading.
I'm just playing it now and it's fun as fuck, can't believe I haven't heard of this before. Graphics are good, simulated 3D or whatever, runs good on my really shitty system as well.
Argh. I keep dying of starvation in the Atlantic in Expedition. :saddowns:
Holy fuck, its the Roguelike thread! Yay! Edit: Throw Elona up in that bitch.
Oh Elona. How I loved groping my little girl 'pet', playing the piano at the local pub and getting stoned to death for being shit.
[release] POWDER [img_thumb]http://www.zincland.com/powder/screenshot/startingchar.png[/img_thumb] POWDER is a light roguelike that was designed for the Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS. Download [/release] [editline]29th April 2011[/editline] I didn't want this to open page 2
I added it, also, what is this?
I added it, also, what is this? [img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/FagCum.png[/img_thumb]
looks like dungeon crawl.
Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, also one of the most played Roguelikes afaik. It supports "online" via PuTTY where other people may watch you play and chat while doing so.
[release]Shiren the Wanderer [img_thumb]http://media.nintendo.com/nintendo/bin/uCVuhkdbtybmKk8YYbUkF363I5Ua5Ffw/WBDvdH5Lr_m_5cZHG8LOQGAUeAjhU-Hy.jpg[/img_thumb] A console roguelike. Yes, a console roguelike. But still one of the best roguelikes ever created. Gameplay is NetHack-inspired, but there's a lot more emphasis on strategic combat -- as in, there's a lot of items that encourage creative combat.[/release] No download because it's a retail game, and you should definitely buy it since it's all over the place in bargain bins. [editline]29th April 2011[/editline]
But you can't disagree that its Adventure mode isn't a roguelike, whether or not you think that's the main purpose of the game. And, it isn't finished yet. Toady is still working on expanding the Adventurer mode.
Lufia II (a JRPG) had a roguelike minigame, but I don't see anyone calling that a roguelike.

It is (or, I should say, should/will be) 1/2 of the game. -- I suppose it's ironic that I was the one who said we shouldn't have this, and yet I'm perpetuating it.
I liked Izuna the Unemployed Ninja series on the DS.
Loving ToME, gonna try out transcendence and nethack later though.
I liked Izuna the Unemployed Ninja series on the DS.
I've heard that these were alright. But I've also heard that you retain levels after death...
It'd be great if you could say which roguelikes in the OP work on Linux, as I'm completely swapping over soon.
I thought the name was neat. Mind you I'm picturing it as a jacket or something Dr. Who would wear.
Oh Elona. How I loved groping my little girl 'pet', playing the piano at the local pub and getting stoned to death for being shit.
Normal day.

The Transcendence version on the website is 1.01, the current version is 1.05, which can be found here http://neurohack.com/transcendence/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3956
I love roguelikes, anyone play steamband? Things like this are awesome because you can have depth and normally difficulty-to-implant things like dynamic fire/water/destruction.
[release]Elona [img_thumb]http://pds.exblog.jp/pds/1/200707/19/46/f0019846_12132741.jpg[/img_thumb] Pretty good Roguelike. Graphical and moddable with features ranging from crafting to building management. For the Elona part Facepunch Thread :3:
I try to play Elona, but fuck the controls confuse me.
