I try to play Elona, but fuck the controls confuse me.
Really? Elona is like as simple as it gets for a Rougelike when it comes to controls.
Ah, Elona. Had my performer skill at 29 and then I screwed up the power supply on my computer or something. Plenty more performers in the sea.
Wizard mode is fun.
Did you bother to do the tutorial?
I did, but the GUI. SO MANY KEYBINDS WHY AREN'T THERE MORE MENUS?!
I did, but the GUI. SO MANY KEYBINDS WHY AREN'T THERE MORE MENUS?!
Well the three Z, X, C menus should be enough, just cycle through them with 7 and 9.
I did, but the GUI. SO MANY KEYBINDS WHY AREN'T THERE MORE MENUS?!
Ya you never have to move your hands which is amazing, whenever I'm play other roguelikes I constantly have to move my hands around and shit.
You might want to add http://people.umass.edu/jvight/3059/ . It's not very well known, but it's pretty interesting anywho.
easilly fits on a floppy disk, and can run smoothly on machines slower than 600mhz
sold me on that feature alone
Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, also one of the most played Roguelikes afaik. It supports "online" via PuTTY where other people may watch you play and chat while doing so.
Most good roguelikes do. Nethack and ADOM do.
sold me on that feature alone
Pretty low specs to get HD ASCII graphics, eh?
Really? Elona is like as simple as it gets for a Rougelike when it comes to controls.
stone soup's GUI mode is easier in my opinion.
3059 runs off center for me. Any way to fix this?
Unreal world is also a nice roguelike. http://www.jmp.fi/~smaarane/urw.html
Anybody knows a roguelike (or hell, a game) with a good necromancy system?
Diablo 2?
These last 4 days I've had more fun playing roguelikes then I have with new AAA titles in a year
Was doing pretty good in Stone Soup, go down to next floor and... Three named enemies right next to each other, needless to say I didn't make it.
Hmm so much to pick what's the best one of these all Roguelike games to start with?
Prehaps Rogue Survivor or IVAN. Those are both pretty easy to start with.
[release] Castle of the Winds [img_thumb]http://shrines.rpgclassics.com/pc/castle2/images/howtopics/town.gif[/img_thumb] A graphical Roguelike made by one guy when he was trying to learn programing, is simple to learn and isn't all that hard either.(by roguelike standerds) heavy magic focus. may not work on newer systems. Download [/release] I first played this game when I was like 7 and found it on a shareware disk, so if a 7 year old can play it, anyone can!
I first played this game when I was like 7 and found it on a shareware disk, so if a 7 year old can play it, anyone can!
You'd be surprised, I was a boss at Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast as a kid, but now I'm absolutely horrible at it.
Hmm so much to pick what's the best one of these all Roguelike games to start with?
Well, Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup is considered one of the most difficult roguelikes, but I honestly still think it's a pretty good starting point. The GUI is amazing so you won't be completely lost when learning to play. I'd also suggest NetHack since it's basically the standard by which all other roguelikes are judged. It's not too hard to pick up, either, especially if you can find a good control "cheat-sheet." (The best option would be to buy Shiren the Wanderer since it introduces its concepts extremely well through a mode called Fay's Puzzles, and, of course, is entirely graphical and very simple to control... but I'm assuming you're looking for a free roguelike.)
So I started playing Elona do anyone here knows where I can find Killer Squirrels?
So I started playing Elona do anyone here knows where I can find Killer Squirrels?
dungeons [editline]1st May 2011[/editline] also arenas
All these games look extremely boring to me.
All these games look extremely boring to me.
That's what I said at first, but now I love 'em, just try one.
dungeons [editline]1st May 2011[/editline] also arenas
What should I try identify with money. Seems like books are the only ones worth identifying.
