All these "imagination" type games are bringing me back to the days I played Final Fantasy on NES. The fights were really primitive-looking, but I always imagined it as some epic battle that's happening in real time rather than being turn-based.
what about Power Puff Girls Chemical X for Playstation 1?
Is it just me or does equipment wear out in elona?

Not as far as I know... I never really noticed in my game, and I've played for a pretty long-ass time.
Been playing DoomRL all day, love it
I just had the most awesome life in Ivan

Followed immediately by the most awful life.

Highlights of the first game:
-My right arm was made of steel, giving me 68 strength
-Had a +6 meteoric steel short sword
-Had a cloak of invisibility
-3 pets: A genie, a werewolf, and an angel of Silva
-Survived an experimental dwarven mine field and a kamikaze dwarf
Highlights (or rather, everything that happened) in the second life:
-Find leather gauntlets in the first room
-Fight a giant hedgehog, which bites off one of my arms
-My puppy panics during the hedgehog fight
-Try to rest
-Zombie approaches, killing my puppy
-Zombie makes me panic
-Get stuck in spider web
-Die by spider

The Ivan wiki kinda sucks. What does a whistle do? Or a magical whistle? Or a horn of fear? Or a horn of bravery? I've tried using all of these and nothing seems to happen. The wiki leads me to believe that these are awesome rare items but doesn't actually say what they do.
Man, I started a new game and promptly got my arm severed by a hedgehog. Then I find a teak staff of wondrous smells. The gods be cruel indeed.
Oh, but I found an altar of cruentus, offered him everything from the last two floors, and prayed to him. He gave me a bottle of troll blood and an angel to follow me around. :buddy: She's armed with a mythril halberd and angel hair gauntlets
That reminds me, I've got a very pressing question I can't find an answer to anywhere: Why is it that I can sometimes walk past my pets, and other times they refuse to move, saying "The [creature] resists"? It's really goddamn annoying when I'm walking down a single-space hallway and my pet won't get out of my way.
I have no clue about that. Probably a bug seeing as the game was never fully finished. Still it's fucking awesome. So glad other people like it as well.

Turns out it was due to acid.
Just noticed that the links in the Stone Soup box are fucked up. I mean, they're discernible, but you can't just click them and be taken to the addresses.
Not sure if any of the others were the same way.
Well, I'm gonna check off "acid rain" in ways to commit suicide in IVAN.
I've been playing Stone Soup a fair amount the past couple weeks, and it's fun as hell. Is there any difference to the graphical tileset besides being, well, graphical? I prefer the look of ASCII, if that makes any sense.
In IVAN I somehow survived the explosion of a mine, I later died after praying to a god and he transformed my head into an iron head, I then went brain dead.

Mellis didn't do much better for me. After getting him "very pleased" with me, I lost an arm in battle. I prayed to him, and was given a new arm... Made of expensive fabric. It was promptly re-severed. Later on I managed to lose my other arm too, and when I was on the verge of death, I prayed one more time... And received two arms made of expensive fabric. Both were severed again and I died. Fuck Mellis.
I'm just playing Stone Soup for the first time tonight, and I'm noticing that a lot of the sprites in the tileset also exist in Elona. I'm betting that Elona stole them, since I read somewhere that approximately 0% of its artwork is original, but I wonder if they came directly from this game or if it was some other source?
In IVAN, I stepped on that Sumo guy's banana peel and crashed into a wall, then I lost my right arm.
I don't know if it's good etiquette for me to keep bumping this thread, but nobody else is talking.
Today in Ivan I found a wand of cloning on the first floor of the underwater tunnel. I used it on myself and gained an ally. We had an interesting conversation.

Then he was killed by a giant hedgehog.
Has anyone ever even gotten to Attnam?

I slashed the head off a kobold and it hit a giant spider behind him and killed it. Heh.

I threw a bottle of sulphiric acid at a golem, hoping that it would break and melt him. However, it didn't break, it just hit him and did no damage.
Then he drank it.
Has anyone ever even gotten to Attnam?
Yes, many times.
Yes, many times.
I usually get past the underwater tunnels or whatever to the place with all the limestone. That's when 6 greater carnivorous plants appear around me :saddowns:
[editline]24th June 2011[/editline]
Oh, nevermind, I just got there.
Also, ghost page.
[editline]24th June 2011[/editline]
My acidic vomit just dissolved a slave.
If you had trouble with the plant boss than you're gonna hate the Enner Beast.
Oh god, spelunky. That game is god damn addicting.

I can't even begin to count how many times I got killed by Ogres at Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup.
Has Dungeons of Dredmor been given a mention yet? Its not out yet but it looks lovely from the trailer and the previews I've read.

Looks a little overwhelming and chaotic.
Dwarf Fortress adventure mode has raised my expectations for combat way too high. I know there's imbalances but it mostly just works so well.
I never thought I'd have so much fun hacking off limbs and watching them fly five meters away, or playing a bronze colossus and punching a kobold so hard into a wall that it explodes, then using its chunks of flesh to bludgeon the rest of them.
It's... Beautiful.
I had downloaded DoomRL recently, then downloaded it again because I left it in the temp folder, and founded that it had recently received a pretty big update:

Also, the description for Incursion is for the wrong game.

It was pretty fun, and I'm too dumb for Roguelikes.
I could actually play this one and understand what's going on.
