I highly suggest you dont do fire giants without iron knives, or train ranged at all without knives or chins unless you are doing dragons. Trust me i got 9 ranged, my only legit 99.

The cape's cool, in my opinion, but it has bad stats.
Obsidian cape has better stats.

Got crossbow was my first, I'm thinking I should get a shield but theres so much choice.
crossbow definitely, chaotic staff is marginally better than a SOL and the longsword is a slower but a bit stronger slashing rapier

Get the longsword last, considering you have a rapier and there is only a few places where the cls is usefull(Bandos and Barrows) and even there a Rapier isnt far behind. If you're going to go the the higher lvled bosses such as Nex and Corporeal Beast only the Shields and Crossbows are usefull. So no, I wouldnt get the longsword unless you're going for 100+ Dungeoneering.
