I've captured several giant badger and removed the exotic tag because dungeon masters are broken. I will create a giant badger army. [editline]29th December 2011[/editline] And mod it so I can actually make them war giant badgers.

You want to defeat the other armies, not annihilate them in the most gruesome way possible! [editline]29th December 2011[/editline] Forgotten beasts are game, though
My Dwarves were doing great, doing what I have wanted them to and didn't complain Then I have decided to look at their thoughts, and they are ALL dying from dehydration What the... [editline]29th December 2011[/editline] Ok, note for self Do not build fortresses in places where water turns ice in autumn without having a well
Maybe you should brew some drinks? [editline]29th December 2011[/editline] Or dig down until you find a cavern? Water down there doesn't freeze in the winter.

So I just got back into playing this, First fortress has a massive river running through it. Come winter, I'm damming that fucker, it's killing my FPS. There also appears to be a waterfall, I only noticed this after several crocodiles fell to their deaths.
There also appears to be a waterfall, I only noticed this after several crocodiles fell to their deaths.
Only in Dwarf Fortress Also, Devlog
Wells are done (but not before there was a well with a bucket that was lowered down through an open tomb filled with skeletons into a pool in the center of the grimy room). You can fill your waterskin from the well bucket (after you lower/raise it) or drink right out of the bucket. Crayon drawings and New Yearsy stuff tomorrow.
What's wrong with water drawn from an open tomb? More calcium!
Oh dear, an alligator tore the doctor in half, then got bored and left.
lulz DF just crashed goodbye 3 hours of hard work uninstalling
How hard can it be to save often or turn on autosave
Small rocks in adveture mode are overpowered i served someone hand off with it.
lost my fort to an invasion of four dozen or so goblins. it was fun while it lasted
By not thinking the dam through, I managed to flood the whole map. At least the elves won't bother me now. also the waterfall claimed the lives of three of my dwarves. [editline] [/editline] It seems that all my migrants try to cross the waterfall where it's at it's most shallow, get swept off the ledge and fall to their deaths. It'll save on dormitory space at least. [editline] [/editline] OH GOD EVERYTHING IS FLOODED HOW COULD A DAM HAVE GONE THIS WRONG
How hard can it be to save often or turn on autosave
Seasonal autosave with automatic backup~ I never actually load them though. I've only had DF crash while messing around with DFhack, and I save before I do that...
Winter came, muddy brown ice everywhere. then it snowed and now it all looks like piss.
What's a good way to quickly dispose of caged creatures? Can't throw them down pits like I did in 40d, dwarves can't pull them around... linking them to a lever takes way too long. I could throw the cage in magma/under a bridge, but I want to keep the cages.
A ghost has decided to sit in the last place I need to fill to fix my dam, and if I don't get it fixed before spring, the whole fort will flood. Shit. [editline] [/editline] Have some Stonesense screenshots: The GREATEST THREAT TO DWARF-KIND The (former) entrance to my fortress: Not very good I know, but it's a start considering I haven't played for months.
Halp! My dwarfs are engraving heroic images of... ELVES! :v: I ordered all my entryway floors to be engraved and like ten of the engravings of elves striking down ogres and goblins! Why are my dwarfs idolizing the elf scum like this?! What should I do? Kill them?
The last 5 rulers and several generals of my dwarf civilization have been humans. I'm not sure how I feel about this...
I was impatient and my dad have wanted the PC, so I shut down DF with "die" command, hoping that it have saved (I'm on a netbook, so it just freezes for a minute, and you don't know if it finished saving or not) Well it haven't. And that was my best fortress so far. And I didn't have any saves :smithicide:

Got to put the stockpile around the holes, though, as if the cage isn't adjacent to a hole, they might escape. http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/Mass_pitting
Wow my fort got slaughtered by that goblin siege :( Also just realised that an earlier dwarf that went insane due to a failed mood not only killed my highly skilled mason (grand master or something like that) but also mutilated a baby.
The Gem Cutter grabs The Dwarven Baby by the left hand with his left upper arm! The Gem Cutter locks The Dwarven Baby's left wrist with The Gem Cutter's left upper arm! The Gem Cutter bends The Dwarven Baby's left hand with The Gem Cutter's left upper arm, shattering the left wrist's bone! A ligament in the left wrist has been torn and a tendon has been torn! The Gem Cutter releases the joint lock of The Gem Cutter's left upper arm on The Dwarven Baby's left hand. The Dwarven Baby gives in to pain. The Gem Cutter releases the grip of The Gem Cutter's left upper arm on The Dwarven Baby's left hand. The Gem Cutter grabs The Dwarven Baby by the right lower leg with his right hand! The Gem Cutter locks The Dwarven Baby's right knee with The Gem Cutter's right hand! http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/Mass_pitting
Wow, went to dig one of these out over some magma... accidentally dug into a cave, within ten seconds two forgotten beasts appeared. One was a towering leech made of saltpeter with wings and poisonous vapors, the other is a gigantic eyeless crocodile twisted into humanoid form. Sent one squad after the leech, one after the crocodile. Second squad killed the crocodile with no problem - the first squad? Every dwarf that got to the station died. Seven soldiers got there and killed it... then died to almost instant necrosis and suffocating, along with two dwarves and a baby that got in the way. [editline]31st December 2011[/editline] There are engravings of the giant leech in my bedrooms, engraved by my legendary engraver... but he engraved them over a year ago. The leech has never appeared in my fort before this. :tinfoil:
How much is it recommended to wait during the world gen? I always wait until year 100 [editline]31st December 2011[/editline] Ironhand's tileset is probably the best ASCII game tileset I have ever seen It looks exactly like it should
I dont know what happened, but upon making a custom world with PerfectWorldDF it made all my oceans and seas into massive landscapes of mud. There's civilizations building towns on massive mud-flats. I'm never leaving this world. <3

holy shit that's some good work.

oh, that artifact used the rest of my iron ore. fucking stonecrafters.
My mayor (a retired wrestler who lost the use of his leg in battle) was going to have a meeting with the outpost liaison. When the liaison got near him, for some reason, the mayor went berserk. Somehow, the mayor managed to punch the liaison in the upper body so hard that he split in half and his upper body sailed across the room. He then dodged into a magma cistern while fighting my militia and since he had a lot of friends, I lost my fort to a tantrum spiral. How on earth did he do that?
Was he a miner or pump operator in addition to wrestler? He may have built up massive amounts of muscle working, and massive amounts of skill whilst wrestling, which would make him pretty deadly. I don't know if beserk actually adds effectiveness to a dwarf fighting, would be interesting to know. Would be cool if insanity was something like a martial trance, or if a martial trance could be entered whilst beserk. (though that's kind of an oxymoron)

So an unskilled dwarf won't suddenly become a champion, he will become a slightly less unskilled dwarf.
