Was he a miner or pump operator in addition to wrestler? He may have built up massive amounts of muscle working, and massive amounts of skill whilst wrestling, which would make him pretty deadly. I don't know if beserk actually adds effectiveness to a dwarf fighting, would be interesting to know. Would be cool if insanity was something like a martial trance, or if a martial trance could be entered whilst beserk. (though that's kind of an oxymoron)
He was a miner, as I set all the wrestlers to be miners to make them strong. So that is probably what happened.
Try guessing the significant lapse in defense in this picture!

I lost my last fortress to a cave crocodile. :(
My last migrants are just standing outside and doing nothing
Is it a bug, or there is a reason? They have just arrived and are now standing right outside the fortress

Patch notes for the next update, getting haunted in adventure mode sounds fun. I hope I can be haunted by my dead father who gives me advice/helps me in combat.

I TOLD YOU ABOUT GOBLINS
Have we ever done a Boatmurdered/Gemclod/etc-esque pass-it-on game? That would be fun.
I myself organised one. The fort was doing very well for the first year or so, but then, without fail, as soon as I started, the most popular dwarf went bezerk, killed another Dorf and Tantrum Spiral'd. I don't know how :(
I have an idea.
If a person could harvest enough blood thorn logs to make ballista bolts, and set up a tunnel for heavy ballista fire, would that be enough to fight off the HFS?
because I might try that.
combining this with a cave-in trap field, and they'd be screwed.
You could try it, but chances are you're gonna get some Fun HFS that is resistant to things like that.
Nothing is resistant to cave-in traps.
could add some cages for getting some stuff to fling at sieges.

now, I haven't been playing this game too long, but how do you even trigger a cave in?
mine away all connections to a surface.
Or use a support and a lever attached to it.
You still have to mine away all the connections after you put the support up.

║/╬ is a support, █ is a natural or constructed wall and g is a goblin. Then connect the support to a lever or pressure plate. level z3 is solid rock.
I've never actually used a cave in trap, despite intending to try one for ages.
I wonder how making a 50x50 floor on a support would work against a siege, as a defense by your fortress gate...
I had a fortress which was a big 30x30 field with a 30x30 floor above it. I let the whole siege in, closed all ways out, and collapsed the floor.
Looking around on the forums, found a god of russian/dwarven roulette:

Due to an aquifer, there is a natural waterfall in my first cavern layer.
It's only one tile, but it's kinda neat.

After playing for a while I have a question
In a dining room/bedroom/throne room, when I assign a room should I only choose one chair/table/bed and assign the room or should I choose every single chair/table/bed?
[editline]2nd January 2012[/editline]
And what should I do if I can't find any mud for the farms?
If you want a dwarf to own every chair/table/bed, you have to assign every chair/table/bed to said dwarf.
Soil and clay counts as mudded. If you can't find any use floodgates to irrigate a room.
Are quivers defined in the raws anywhere? I can't seem to find them, but I had an idea for some modding...
Do mayors or other ruler nobles use any of their social skills?
Speaking of nobles, why does everyone have to be hating on nobles?

When they demand items made of tin and lock up your +3 Legendary metalsmith for not producing it.

Whats a fair response for a dwarf not following a noble’s construction order? A few days in prison? A couple of lashes?
Bear in mind please that the noble was asking for clear glass crafts. I don’t have any sand on the map. No sand= no glass. It’s an impossible order. You’d think that the sherrif would take that into account, right?
My hammerer decided a fair price would be to track down the only dwarf (an immigrant) with glass making skill, and mangle both of his legs. Not just break- mangle. As in, he’ll never walk again. Or wank- both of his wrists were also broken.
My hammerer now has the thoughts: He lives to enforce dwarfven justice. He has been estatic recently. He has beaten someone with a hammer recently.
Edit: “Punchbag” the hammered was lying on the floor of the jail, unconcious. Until of course another dwarf came in (after tantruming due to the death of his freind and punching a marksdwarf in his squad). This dwarf then had a tantrum about being confined, and started beating Punchbag in the face, while he was still out cold. So the guards came and beat both of them for fighting.
From poobar's blog.
Some of my dwarves cancelled mining and doing there tasks to hunt for small vermin and im all like what? We have like 300 food left guys get back to it. Then two of them died of thirst. I started looking around for what the problem was, I had accidentally built a floor over the stairs locking them down below in the mines away from the water and the food.
So I'm like hey guys stop messing around do your work! While the dwarves are pounding on this new floor screaming "LET US OUT! PLEASE! CAN ANYONE HEAR US!?!
