So, I'm going to try a little bit of a story to go along. Or do you guys not want to do that. Y/N?
ooohhh I'm so excited
Making up a story as you go along is one of the things that makes successions interesting, at least to the people not involved in them. Go for it. [editline]8th June 2011[/editline] The third cavern layer is a horrible place, can forgotten beasts come without warning? Because THERE IS A GIANT FUCKING WARBLER FUCKING EVERYTHING AND IS KILLING MY MILITARY.
Alright skills include: Dwarfs 1 & 2: Proficient Miner Dwarf 3: Proficient Wood Cutter Dwarf 4: Proficient Carpenter Dwarf 5: Proficient Mason Dwarf 6: Proficient Mechanic & Building Designer Dwarf 7: Proficient Grower, Adequate Herbalist, Competent Brewer
And my founder was killed, fuck me. She was a good dwarf.
please dont try to sabotage the fort for everyone. if someone intentionally runs shit into the ground i reserve the right to revert the save [editline]7th June 2011[/editline] oh and are you on the latest version?
I call space 3.
I call one of the miners.
I call one of the miners.
You're supposed to randomly name a Dwarf upon getting the save.
The King has decreed that new colonies must be established to further the power and might of Eshtan Gemsit. The minister of colonization has sent me and a group of 6 companions to a particularly promising area in hopes of beginning a flourishing colony. Amongst us (including myself) are two miners, a carpenter, a mason, a woodcutter, a mechanic and a grower. May Armok bless us. We stop and settle along a river that appears to be the most desirable site. Soon after settling, we set to work gathering resources and setting up stockpiles. While our two miners Limul and Meng began carving out the first level of the new settlement. They carved out a side passage in which we would begin our farming of Plump Helmets. They punched through the soft loamy soil to a close pond to irrigate the farm. Limul and Meng dug deeper to begin carving out stockpiles for various goods and materials. If anyone has suggestions as to what to work on, I'm for it, this is a community fortress. And sorry if my RP is terrible, I'm not very good at it. Edit: yeah I'm using the latest release.
I recommend you do entirely whatever the hell you want, part of the charm in this game is each person gets to do their own thing.
I won't play, but I would like a dwarf named after me. Interested in seeing how far this gets.
Not much Dorfy humor in that single update, Steel. Take pages from Boatmurdered, Headshoots, and the like, guy.
Not much Dorfy humor in that single update, Steel. Take pages from Boatmurdered, Headshoots, and the like, guy.
Well, not much has happened yet, I'll try to make the next update more humorous.
I'd like a slot in the queue if any are available. Also:
I set up little rooms in the houses and got the furniture divided out roughly according to the size of each place and the purpose of the rooms. Instead of being generated from scratch, the items all come from the site's world gen stockpiles now. The information stored there includes the source civilization, so a family could be the proud owners of a dwarven stone cabinet, for example, complete with dwarven artwork with the right materials, and the number of dwarven stone cabinets in the town would be the precise number that were traded in over the years. What I'm working on now is dividing up all of the objects that were produced at the town (that weren't placed in houses) among the shops. It selects the type of shop based on the overall town specialization information that is built up during world gen. This leaves some excess foreign items that would normally be associated to caravans/etc./etc. Those will be placed in general shops and warehouses for the time being (and the market when I get to that in a bit). The same should happen with extra food.
Give me spot 6, this is relevant to my interests
How can I flood a room from a brook without flooding my fortress?
How can I flood a room from a brook without flooding my fortress?
Block off the room with doors. Block the tunnel with a floodgate linked to a lever nearby.
Is any framerate optimisation implemented in your balance fix Orkel? ie, no Dwarves have clothing and no weather etc?
This will go the way of Boatmurdered, Insha'Allah.
Oh shit, I picked a temperate climate but somehow the brook freezes over from autumn to spring... I don't think my dwarves are going to make it.
Is any framerate optimisation implemented in your balance fix Orkel? ie, no Dwarves have clothing and no weather etc?
Turning temperature and weather off in the init files usually keeps the game running at an acceptable framerate even at hundreds of Dwarves with decaying clothes.
Is any framerate optimisation implemented in your balance fix Orkel? ie, no Dwarves have clothing and no weather etc?
It's a balance fix, not a framerate fix
Temperature having a massive performance increase, weather less so.
Oh shit, I picked a temperate climate but somehow the brook freezes over from autumn to spring... I don't think my dwarves are going to make it.
Temperate climates often have rivers freezing in winter.
Oh shit, I picked a temperate climate but somehow the brook freezes over from autumn to spring... I don't think my dwarves are going to make it.
Temperate is normal climate. Like in Germany or something. So shit freezes at winter.
Temperate is normal climate. Like in Germany or something. So shit freezes at winter.
But from the beginning of autumn to the end of spring, with snow cover?
What an amazing finale for my school year. On the last period of the last day, I was playing a character I have in DF named Jathrur Ashroturot. I had been sent to kill a hydra. All I had was a copper scimitar. It took seriously the ENTIRE period to kill it. I managed to cut off one of it's heads, even. Then I pretty much slashed all of it's throats. Everyone except me died. The hydra bled out just as the period ended.
