I have a grizzly, and yet it says "no creature" when I try to make it a war animal.
Grizzlies can't normally be trained, but black bears can.
This leads me to my follow-up question of will I need to start a new fortress if I edit the raws to add [TRAINABLE] to my grizzly?
I found a curious structure on 0z level, it was filled with miasma and over 80 undead/skeletal/zombie deers/buzzards and some other stuff. They all dissapeared in the depths. I kill two skeletal buzzards with ease but i fear the others may come soon.

Before (when i really had no idea how to play this) i managed to 'kill' the entire demon army by filling my tunnels accidently with magma and water thus killing them in obsidian.

Make sure there's not another tag that invalidates trainable, like 'exotic' or something

Grizzly Bears are 100% meant to be trainable for war or hunting. Try replacing [TRAINABLE] with [TRAINABLE_WAR].

Discovered that, unfortunately, it's impossible to cut down trees and get more then just logs as products (thereby making my attempt at creating incense somewhat more difficult.)

I just always use the designation method
why would you channel out the ground anyway? if you just mine it out you can use the buildings stairs with the floor still there anyway
