What the hell, three ambushes at the same time
It took me three dwarves to survive the last one. Screw that, I'll just lock all the doors
Ladies and gentlemen, I come to this thread bearing bad news.
The sleeping during everything hammerlord passed away today due to infections caused by the DANGER ROOM. He will be remembered and honored by a statue garden on Z-14. The service will be tomorrow.
(Then again, he waited like four months until he went to the doctor. V:v:V)

If he had a spouse, be sure to encase her in the statue garden before flooding it with magma.
This is the only honorable way to send him off.
[sp]Too bad I haven't hit magma yet[/sp]
How many z-levels should there be in a pit, so it would kill?
I am testing my 5z pit now, and the bunnies I throw down survive just bruised

I think it's ten, but don't quote me.
Dwarves decided to die from dehydration, so I opened the doors
50 unskilled dwarves are running towards the water
They are getting attack by three squads of goblins
Let the games Begin!
[editline]31st January 2012[/editline]
11 out of 57 dwarves are alive
~3 goblins killed
[editline]31st January 2012[/editline]
5 dwarves left
4 mad
That's quite fun
[editline]31st January 2012[/editline]
5 dwarves left alive
Now to rebuild the fortress!

Discovered it's in a mountain range that's designed in such a way that I won't get immigrants, sieges or caravans. Needless to say, I'm disappointed.[/QUOTE]
Oh wow, did a check on the other side of the mountain and found this:

Time to carve something into those mountains, massive statues perhaps?
Mount Dwarfmore
DAMN IT
I have decided to destroy my fortress, flooded all my stockpiles and prepared to have "fun"
"Migrants have arrived"
[editline]31st January 2012[/editline]
I guess I solved the problem with the water source, though
[editline]31st January 2012[/editline]
DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT
ANOTHER TWO AMBUSHES

Make something like the Large Abu Simbel temple in Egypt, only on a fucking massive scale and much more Dwarfier.

Magma needs to be a vital part of it

I'm a bit late, but 10 should do it. (as already said)
To be honest, 5 should shatter bones, but 15+ will nearly always guarentee a nice little splatter, and 20+ will be a fountain of glorious body parts.
i'm holding out on the overseer program until they update it with the new terrain visualizer
[editline]1st February 2012[/editline]
is it wrong that i'd like to see a mod that puts DF into a western theme?
all humans making a small town in desert areas with guns and all that, would be quite cool I think..
I know it doesn't exactly fit the feel of DF, but it'd be fun to play, micromanaging a western town that way etc

Mongo punches horses head
Horses skull shatters!
Danger rooms are so overpowered. I have 70 dwarves in my fortress and 50 of them are axe lords.
Also all the children are dead because I'm a terrible df player.
quick q what's the highest population anyone here has sustained? I only usually get to about 90 before my dwarfs start biting eachothers eyelids
[QUOTE=Shadow_coole;34482416]If you are using the masterwork mod like I suspect you are I suggest disabling zombies unless you have countless weapons traps or countless suicidal dwarfs because only chopping off the head will kill it.[/QUOTE]
Wish that they were a lot weaker and that there was more of 'em.
I got to 203, but having an intel q8200 clocked at 2.33 GHz led to it dying in a horrible death due to FPS issues.
That's what I get for having one of the early quad cores, and not trusting myself enough to overclock it.

They are pretty shittier and here is a quote from the mod-maker
"You have to cut of the head. No arrows, no hammers, no golem, no mines, all that wont work. But really, if you dont like them, just turn them off"

I thought DF only utilized two cores?
DF only uses one, which is why I run DF abysmally.
I allocate everything to three cores, and DF to the fourth, but I still can't go too large.
Devlog/Month Report
[quote]In order to finish, I have Threetoe's list of issues that came up during testing, a little more map maintenance, and the SDL updates. February seems like a safe bet now, since nothing that has come up should really be that time consuming to fix, and anything minor that comes up can be fixed after a release rather than before if it comes down to it.
There are many new players that haven't been around for a release before, so I'd like to remind everybody that there tend to be several smaller releases after a large one to clean things up (on a scale of a few weeks or even days depending on the severity of the problems), and as usual we're aiming to fix many old problems as well as the new ones that will inevitably appear. Thanks to everybody that helped out last month! We're really looking forward to seeing everybody have fun with the upcoming release.[/quote]

um, what?
earlier quad cores aren't that bad. I hardly notice the difference between my q9300 desktop and i7 laptop, if I ever do at all.

It's not that it's a quadcore that makes it bad, it's the low clock speed in my particular one relative to more modern processors.
Either way, I still run it well, just not as well as I'd like. :v:
How could i like drop a cage into a pond i made?
A tantruming dwarf just bite off a spear in my danger room...
