It means that the civs are dieing out for some reason. [editline] [/editline] See if you can make it the age of death/emptiness with an adventurer.
Did that in a pocket world which had been reduced to like 100 living individuals
Done. [editline]23rd June 2011[/editline] The Age of Legends was a time when powers of the world were fading. what does this mean oh my god
It means there are around 30-40% less Megabeasts then there were in the Age of Myth. This is extremely uncommon in the newer versions and implies something's been killing your Dragons and Hydra. [editline]23rd June 2011[/editline]
It means that the civs are dieing out for some reason.
I think that's the Age of Twilight.
I killed one dragon as an adventurer. In fact, that guy was a hero in so many places it was like 5 pages worth.
It's kinda lame how Toady buffed hydras but they're still totally lame in combat
Anyone have a decent way to get your fortress out of a tantrum spiral? I used my well water to drown some goblins and didn't know it was winter; so about 3 dwarves died from dehydration and the rest are just pissed. Would putting all the mad dwarves in a flood chamber fix the problem?
I separate the fort with walls or doors into separate districts, that leaves less victims to wound while tantruming etc and while one sector might completely die the others will be moderately fine
Any ETAs on the new version? Unsure if to start a new fortress or wait (last one I put too close to a volcano and the dwarfs melted).
im starting to think that if you have a large mountain which you can dig your fort into, having a aquifer isnt so bad [editline]23rd June 2011[/editline] in addition to this, how common is it for elves to be at war with you?
im starting to think that if you have a large mountain which you can dig your fort into, having a aquifer isnt so bad [editline]23rd June 2011[/editline] in addition to this, how common is it for elves to be at war with you?
Not very, I think you need to piss them off first, either through cutting down too many trees, or ensuring their merchants "fall" onto your spears
you did generate some mist, so it seems to have worked.
Yeah, but everybody died
in addition to this, how common is it for elves to be at war with you?
Without your action, it's pretty rare. I have never had a world gen with them at war with any dwarven civ...
It's kinda lame how Toady buffed hydras but they're still totally lame in combat
on a related note giant desert scorpions are fun as fuck to play as in the object arena. strangle dudes then sting their ears and eyes out, watch and laugh as your poison gradually melts their nervous system.
Some traders arrived, what should we ask them of?
on a related note giant desert scorpions are fun as fuck to play as in the object arena. strangle dudes then sting their ears and eyes out, watch and laugh as your poison gradually melts their nervous system.
Can you actually control what and how you attack? Never played Adventurer mode so I wouldn't know. Also tried a giant scorpion against a donkey, and I got absolutely mauled (I was the scorpion, by the way). [editline]24th June 2011[/editline] Fuck donkeys, had to put on a Adamantium armour on my scorpion to manage to kill one. Even then I got wounded.
I really want the new version to be out. When I feel like it's close, I find it difficult to play DF because I'll just want to start over when the new version is out anyway.
That was fixed a long time ago, besides bronze is supposed to be better then iron.
Isn't iron stronger/more durable/somehow superior to bronze? That's what I've always heard. Just curious.
That's true, but you're forgetting we're playing as Dwarves, fighting Goblins so real life doesn't apply here.
Isn't iron stronger/more durable/somehow superior to bronze? That's what I've always heard. Just curious.
Iron is stronger than copper, in the days when bronze was unknown (think egypt at the height of its power) and people only were able to produce weapons out of shit they could dig out of the ground it was the most valuable metal. (Even more valuable than gold)
Iron is stronger than copper, in the days when bronze was unknown (think egypt at the height of its power) and people only were able to produce weapons out of shit they could dig out of the ground it was the most valuable metal. (Even more valuable than gold)
That's not the question. Is iron better at keeping shit alive than bronze?
I just asked RR_Raptor, and if any of you don't know him, he's the guy who makes guns and swords and shit. And he said that iron is better overall for swords and armor.
Starting a new fort. Anybody wants to be in it?
Oh oh, me! I'd like to be the doctor, supervising the slow and unavoidable death of any miner or warrior. EDIT: Oh damn, page king. Um, take one of my fan arts! (Affectionately dubbed by the DF Forum as the "glass rapist", also known as "the dwarf with a severely broken arm")
Going on the new DF Fort. I would love to be a exceptionally skilled dwarf wrestler that wears nothing, I want to see goblins armored in iron with swords quake at my feet. To watch a bronze collosus get smashed due to my superior wrestling. [sp] To see how fast I die [/sp]
Okay guys. I will add you whenever I play the game, since I already have a medic and a few warriors. No weapons though and I`m not sure how deep I have to dig to get metals.
Devlog
I made my way into an old ruined town with missing rooftops and wall sections, down through a sewer access and into the catacombs. After passing various remains set in wall slots, I found a coffin in a separate tomb area with a slab commemorating the deceased's slaying of a giant spider that had been causing trouble 100 years ago. Cross-referenced with legends mode and it all appears to be working, so that's good. Most of the slabs could use some work though. I think I'm going to do tower access doors next, and continue on with my tweaks tonight, then do animals for a few days. Then we can start markets!
how do i equip new armor i get in adventure mode?
how do i equip new armor i get in adventure mode?
W or w
Devlog
To facilitate having adventurers search the tombs of previous heroes, Toady should implement being able to "fast-forward" game-time like how they do it with world generation. Hell it would be pretty slick to have the whole, "And the world returned to normal for the next 50 years following the collapse of the Dwarven Fortress so and so."
How deep do I have to dig for useful ore? I want to start doing steel things right about now.
How deep do I have to dig for useful ore? I want to start doing steel things right about now.
It varies on each site. If your site has shallow metals, they are usually near the surface. Deep metals can be anywhere between cavern layer #1-#3. [editline]26th June 2011[/editline] If you have neither, too bad.
Well, I actually have both, but on z-level 30 I found granite. [editline]26th June 2011[/editline] Nothing useful though.
