For new guys, just walk into them.
Shift+A is better imo. Aimed attacks help alot.
How do I throw these monkey's into this pit? I have the open tile assigned as a pit, but whenever I designate a macaque to be tossed down a 30 floor shaft, they escape as they are being dragged there and it makes a mess of my store rooms.
What am I doing wrong?
Someone should set up a live stream of them starting a new fortress. It would really help me to be able to watch someone who knows what they're doing play and be able to ask questions at the same time.
August 3rd there's supposed to be some Reddit Livestream class
for some reason my archer squad refuses to train at the archery ranges and refuse to use their crossbows in combat they have bolts and crossbows but instead runs straight into the enemy and dies
So that turned out... a few times better than expected. Managed to decapitate said Mate of the One-eyed Horror. All I got was a mangled and bloody left leg and a broken right foot. Now I have a nice head for my collection, as well as some of my own blood.
Edit: Couldn't find out how to fix my leg, got ambushed, and died. I knew I should've gone for the legs.
I love pinching enemies and having their limbs come off.
I usually pinch their noses off, then beat them to death with it.
A new meaning to "I GOT YER NOSE"
How do you guys do such things. Do you control what you do or do you get lucky and have the game randomly do it or what.

Shit+A when next to an enemy, it allows you to target-strike locations on a guy's body.

I've allways wanted to watch a game of DF, will join you when you go for it again.
So when do goblins and other things start attacking your fortress? At least a years passed and I have around 50 dwarves but nothing worse than an overcurious honey badger has appeared
Speaking of the succession fortress, I seem to have lost interest in it I'm afraid. Count me out for now.
So when do goblins and other things start attacking your fortress? At least a years passed and I have around 50 dwarves but nothing worse than an overcurious honey badger has appeared
Well its all variable but my first successful fortress didn't see goblins until the 3rd year.

I relies heavily on fortress value, I had one built inside an obsidian mountain once. Not even a year passed before i was having large sieges.
Well I make above ground fortresses made out of sticks and mud so thats probably why.
APinAP, you're doing a great job with that bloodline but there's one thing that bothers me
what happened to those elf merchant survivors I failed to drown back in my turn?
I never saw any, they must have escaped or something v:v:v
Speaking of the bloodline, who's turn is it.
Looking back at page 9 it looks like this Canuhearme? guy would be next if he wasn't banned and you look like you just might be the same guy's new account. :v:

Yeah, that's me. Where's the save?
Nevermind, got it. Actually, apparently the save isn't working.
Is there any way to effectively avoid Bogeymen attacks?
Keep a companion with you, or sleep only in towns
Keep a companion with you, or sleep only in towns
Or remove them entirely by setting "Night Creatures" to 0 in the advanced generation settings, however that also removes night creatures you may get for quests.
And that's also cheating
And that's also cheating
Cheating's just a matter of perspective. Using DF Hack? Yeah most of those are cheating (except df dig, that's very useful.) Creating a world where there aren't any night creatures (but otherwise completely normal?) I wouldn't exactly call that cheating, especially if you're going under the assumption that the world you created simply never had night creatures.
In the end, it's no different then making a world with plentiful resources or extra volcanoes/mountains.
You want to remove bogeymen? Do it with an axe.

Oh.
That's probably just weirdness from putting in a tileset (Phoebus) and taking it out, I'll try to get it working properly.

It's cool, I got it working now. This fortress is... Not what I'm used to, I'll tell you that.
