A double post? What...how?
In all seriousness though, build a labyrinth for it.

For bonus points, build the roof out of crystal/clear glass so Dwarves can watch the carnage like scientists observing rats in mazes, only instead of cheese it's death.

I put him on display in my mayors office with a lever to release him if my mayor starts to do stupid stuff
Then another lever to fill his office with magma :v:

Holy shit got another siege CONSISTING ENTIRELY OF MOUNTED PIKEMEN.
What a badass. Would anyone here be willing to hug a bat the size of a lion? I don't think so...
So my dog is now shaking around one of the trolls by the head. This has been going on for 62 pages....

Ok what the fuck now it gave birth.

Dwarf Fortress
Dwarf Fortress
Just need some magma covered kittens to complete everything.
I think we need to adapt Fifteen Men On A Dead Man's Chest to Dwarf Fortress. The drinking and murder and massive quantity of gold and other riches really suits the gameplay when you think about it, especially when dwarves go insane and start turning on one another and turn a thriving fortress into an absolute bloody mess.

Does this happen a lot?

Make a butcher's workshop and butcher every kitten the instant they are born. Else they will adopt people, become unable to be butchered, grow into cats and then breed like fucknuggets and your fort's FPS will go to zero.

Or stuff them all in one cage and unleash them on unsuspecting sieges.
I managed to keep my fort's cat population under 10 without any mass cullings for the longest time. The wardogs on the other hand... let's just say I have a cage at the entrance filled with about 50 rabid hounds rigged to blast open at the tug of a lever.
Been a little bit since I last played Dwarf Fortress. I am now feeling like reading about all the mechanics required on the wiki and creating my own labyrinth. There should be a club for this shit.

I would do this, just my butchers don't ever do their job. There's corpses all over the place and they won't butcher or throw them out
or anything! It's frustrating.

Actually, It would be the best thing ever if someone made a pirate fortress mod (cutlasses, muskets, french, british and pirates as races). It would even make somewhat sense for the pirates to be hiding in cave fortresses like dwarves.
Every fortress I start has no iron or really any metals at all. How can I fix that?
Only embark on places with both deep metals and shallow metals listed, and perhaps increase the mineral density before creating the world a bit. Then again, if you're not digging around much, it could be there. Just need to do a lot of exploratory mining sometimes.

Remember thermocatular explosions?
Is it possible to change animal name ?

So I'm having trouble wrapping my head around a problem. I have one of my squads set up to wear metal armor, but whenever I have some made, it seemingly disappears. I can't find it in my armor stockpile, though I find other metal armor pieces not designated to be worn. I also can't find any on my dwarves except for the first few I made on the squad leader. Does anyone have any idea where it is going/why my dwarves won't equip it?
Make sure your record keeper is set to work at maximum accuracy, then check it out with the stocks (in the Z menu) screen. You can get a list of every piece of armor on your map and zoom to each piece.
I am planing on doing a Automated Dwarf system to manage all my levers, but how do I make a "chute" so they get food and drink?
So much goblinite.
I am currently finding an embark with a temperate or warm lake, so I can begin my first unusual fortress.
what I intend to do is build the fortress in the lake and expand it during the winter, it will also draw it's water without pump assistance, which means I will have to neutralise any water pressure before it enters my fortress.
I'll keep you posted.
[editline]:v:[/editline]
well, that was a sodding faliure, I picked a perfect lake and everything spawned in hell.
shit.
I'm currently making a tutorial, I've done nearly 3 hours so far, containing 14 videos. Feedback and CC is much appreciated! I'm making this as there hasn't been very many videos covering DF2011 hugely in detail. I will most likely follow it all up with a nice Let's Play, as well, most likely in a hard embark, and I'll also do my best to explain how to better survive in these hard areas!

God, I have this fort set up for upcoming Goblin Sieges, but I looked at my civ screen and I am at peace with them.
