Sorry to sound dumb, but does anyone know what tileset and graphical set cpt. Duck is using in his video tutorial?
Doesn't he use an old version of Mayday? Not sure, not checked his videos, this is memory speaking, and it's hazy as fuck.

Then, designate the cage with the goblin in it to be dumped, but FORBID the goblin in it. You dorfs will most likely take him of his stuff, and leave the goblin in the cage. Then, build the cages, with each one attached to a lever (a single one or multiples for maximum control). Include a door-locking mechanism, order your rookies to be stationed in the arena, and pull the switches to begin training.
Remind me, is it possible to attach multiple functions to one lever? I've been doing it for ages but I don't remember if it works.
Remind me, is it possible to attach multiple functions to one lever? I've been doing it for ages but I don't remember if it works.
Of course you can. You could have the entirety of your fortress's devices run off one pressure plate in the middle of a barren field if you want it to.
From the Dwarf blog.
Raising little bits and pieces and adventure-moding them in the arena continued to expose various problems. At the worst of it, knocking out an animated head's teeth caused two copies of the head to fly out and land on the ground, which would then be raised (complete with teeth), continuing the process until the arena was a churning mass of heads. I tried the butcher command in the arena, and the necromancer managed to raise both a skeleton and a walking hollow skin... which I suppose I'll keep since it makes about as much sense as a walking skeleton. So... keep the necromancer away from your raw skin stockpiles, he he he. He didn't raise a muscle meaty mess because the butcher cuts that into stacked meat, which is no longer a corpse item, and he won't raise (corpse item) horns/shells etc. because they don't have grasps or heads (which is the current raising condition). Out of the arena, back in the necromancer's tower, I raised a dead necromancer, and it was properly missing its arm and was also dragging its guts (as he had been in the last moments of life). I travelled to a new area, and when the zombie came with me, it immediately began dragging its guts in the new location, so that was good. I guess that's why some animated beings are depicted with stitches. Perhaps later on you'll be able to sew them up so they can give a good first impression.
Shambling skins.

Use d-b-d to designate an area (i.e. your animal stockpile, filled with caged hostiles) from which all items will be taken and dumped. Afterwards, hit k, go over each cage and press d for each of them - this stops the dumping on the cages themselves. The end result will be that prisoners will be stripped naked but the cages themselves (and the creatures within) will remain in place, ready to be used for whatever purpose. If you want to keep the items, you need only place your garbage dump zone somewhere near your armor stockpiles and unforbid all the stuff after it is dumped there.
Double up the walls, have put some guard towers in and make a lava moat.
Also, mass graves.
Also, have a pointlessly tall tower to throw things off of.
i shall try to do your ideas tomarrow i will update when i am for now im going to bed.
the most worshipped god in my civ appears to be a goddess of suicide. "Momuz Deadbury The Ashen Funeral of Phantoms" is a deity of The Grasping Tongs. Momuz most often takes the form of a female dwarf and is associated with suicide. I cannot see this ending well. nice name though. [editline] [/editline] there also appears to be an ants nest constructed on the surface of the lake. What.

Could someone respond to this? I need some way to train my dorfs. :(
I've already stripped all my POW's naked of their possessions, And most of those were melted into bars I didn't have (I only have native silver in my area). I'm assuming there's no way to give the caged enemies weak weapons and a bit of armor? :/

Could someone respond to this? I need some way to train my dorfs. :(
Place a weapons stockpile filled with only weak equipment nearby. Usually, the prisoners will go straight for them.
Last time my prisoners got their hands on wooden training weapons, they were pitted against rookie dwarves. As it turns out, enemies level in the same fashion as dwarves. The two kept sparring with each other until they were both masters of their respective weapons and couldn't put a scratch on each other. Dorf lost due to bleeding out from a toe wound he got during the first round of combat weeks ago.
It's posts like that that make me want to dust off my copy of DF and start up a new fortress. What happened to the master weaponsgoblin after the dwarf fighting him died?

[editline]22nd August 2011[/editline] so... i thought the legendary monsters were not allowed to be trapped then when i had no military and one came to my base fill with traps i got him first one the funny thing is my dwarfs almost could not hold him.
Sieges solved, fortress dead. Exploding booze stockpile, burning socks, suffocation, tantrum spiral.
Perfect! where do we start?
just hit adamantine, and now I have no idea what to do with it.
just hit adamantine, and now I have no idea what to do with it.
Make clothing and armor. It's the best. Just don't make blunt weapons and ammo with it (makes them useless, too light)
the clothing isn't that good either, it just amounts to really expensive socks. I will get on the armour first, probably. then some weapons.

Adamantium? Adamantine! Whenever I start an adventurer I just disember whatever village I start in.
