Adamantium? Adamantine! Whenever I start an adventurer I just disember whatever village I start in.
I thought I was the only one!
i had a bone carver narrowly avoid getting crippled for life, a goblin thief chipped his lower spine, bruising the nervous tissue. he can't walk atm, but it'll heal up. no permanent damage, thankfully. trying to make sure no-one dies is hard.

A Shrieking monster, general of dwarves. DORF
Well Bugger my Britches. A Shrieking monster, general of dwarves. DORF
that's because when someone gets converted into a night creature, they effectively have always been a night creature. it also seems that a similar fate may have befallen my king, as my civ has no leaders.
Whenever I start an adventurer I just disember whatever village I start in.
As if the wait for the next update wasn't enough... we'll be able to do that, and then have an instant army of limbs and heads.
man, scourges and whips are overpowered as shit. three goblin lashers just wiped out my entire legendary militia. [editline] [/editline] it appears I was mistaken, my militia commander just managed to break the siege.
Any newbie friendly custom tileset?
Any newbie friendly custom tileset?
You want the Lazy Newb Pack http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=59026.0 It has 3 to choose from.
I just opened hell to deal with my forgotten beast problem. a dwarf that made an adamantine mini-forge artifact was killed. and nothing of value was lost.
I just opened hell to deal with my forgotten beast problem. a dwarf that made an adamantine mini-forge artifact. and nothing of value was lost.
nice.
My fortress fell to the seccond siege during winter when the water froze. The trolls and pikemen danced into my courtyard and fun was had.
Godddddd the damp stone message is annoying.
Godddddd the damp stone message is annoying.
(as you're making a lava forge near Hell) Caution: Hot stone detected.
(as you're making a lava forge near Hell) Caution: Hot stone detected.
I think it says it's warm stone.
There's a way to turn that off somehow. The whole pausing whenever it detects damp/warm stone. It's probably on the wiki. It'd certainly make carving out lava forges easier.
Yeah you can disable it somewhere, I know this because mine is disabled. Its worth doing.
Hey guys, remember that flooded water tunnel of death I built? Well, this mod adds lizardmen. Amphibious Lizardmen. They're taking a long time to starve to death. :saddowns:
Didn't see this posted. Toady answers development questions http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=84398.msg2562124#msg2562124
so my fortress is worth nearly 3600000 dorfbucks, my doctors are busy with minor injuries and keeping their skills up, goblins are getting shredded my adamantine spike traps and the demons have gotten bored and buggered off. i've hit the pop cap. this is going to end so badly, seeing as the last time I had a fort this good, I got a nigh invincible titan.

That's how it ends with me a lot of the time.
And then fps death. That's how it ends with me a lot of the time.
I doubt it, after hitting the pop cap and releasing hell, I'm still getting about 60 fps give or take 5. [editline] [/editline]
I doubt it, after hitting the pop cap and releasing hell, I'm still getting about 60 fps give or take 5.
HOLY HELL HOW. I have 165 dwarves, and never breached hell, nor made a magma pumpstack, however i have a water one. My popcap is 125, but those dwarves pop out babies like an Irish wife.
I blocked the demons' path to my fortress/out of the caverns. so they can't path much.
They still fruitlessly try to path and not actually being able to makes it worse so indeed HOLY HELL HOW
And then fps death. That's how it ends with me a lot of the time.
Temperature and Weather Off. Bearable FPS up to 200.

Uhh.. This is probably old question and probably dumb but when I press b from the main view I get a list of different furniture. "armor stand, bed, seat..." Is this normal? If so then where is the real building list?
Hmm, you might (no offence meant) want to watch a few tutorials. Here's a good one that someone on FP made recently. (you might want to start at 3 or so) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSBqtNa-L-4&feature=related I tried DF on/off for a few times, but only really picked it up in the summer holidays. With those tutorials, I think I'm now able to keep a basic fort alive for a few years, as opposed to my usual "I'm fucked" fortresses. b gives you a choice of placing furniture that you made (Chairs, tables e.t.c), but also has submenus for certain things. For example, b -> w will bring you into "build -> Workshops" which lets you choose things like Carpenters Workshops, Stills and the like. b -> C (I think it's a capital c) should bring you to the "Build -> Constructions" menu, which lets you build walls, build stairs (if there's nothing to designate to be carved into stairs) and the like. Also, the magma wiki may be useful. http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/Main_Page
A vile supernatural manifestation of pure anger left to fester for eons in the darkest corners of the abyss. Covered in brass armour-plated skin it is the size of a small city and it's steps shake the roots of the world
Uhh yeah, I think I won't be unleashing the HFS anytime soon.
