STONE! STONE AND GEMS EVERYWHERE! OCD! FUCK! What can I do with all this stone? making a giant fucking room for stone would be tedious but this is killing me with my OCD.

Set up a block construction room so you could construct a massive aboveground tower.
Or just dump it all into one tile. Or hide it.

Build a really big castle
Best way to get it done quick is to assign EVERYONE the masonry job and just build loads of shit.
I finally know how to play, got a basic fortress. When is something cool going to happen and what can I do while I wait?

Prepare more.
You're going to need it.
True, but remember that brains are bugged as a whole. Simply bruising the brain will kill someone, when it actually should just knock him unconscious (it's a reported bug).
My balance mod toughens up skulls and modifies the brain structure just enough so that punches and kicks don't cave in skulls all the goddamn time anymore. Still happens with warhammers but less often than in vanilla.
Got a link to this mod? Dying of a punch to the head always bothered me.

Who needs rooms full of ELVEN wood? Real Dorfs use combat arenas full of troglodytes.
Native platinum, two layers down. A lot of it. I love this game.
I got my nephew into DF, he's in third grade. :v:

It's in the OP. Remember to gen a new world
I redownloaded DF after not playing since 2010 was released (it was so buggy it put me off)
I kind of remember how to play, I'm going to set up an above ground fortress. Still have to get used to the new stuff and the stuff I still don't know.
Started a new fortress today early morning, playing nearly non stop till now, i sense fun coming...
Also i remember something about training your squads to elite by using traps (poking them with spears or something like that), anyway anyone have a guide for that?

5/30 people in my class play Dwarf Fortress, I like to think that I'm responsible for one or two of them.
Also, could I please be added to the DF players list?

I smell an elf.
Also hopping to go to war with elves, just presented them all my logs and slaughtered all of them except one merchant and her donkey.

Danger rooms are the pinnacle of dwarven efficiency and strangeness.
the no eat no drink and no sleep with speed:1 cheats make life so much better. I am going to make a pure platinum prison.
Danger rooms are the pinnacle of dwarven efficiency and strangeness.
No, those are dwarven water reactors, they make a mockery of physics and common sense. Danger rooms are for sniveling weaklings that find the warm heat of blood and battle displeasing.
Aka elves.
Question, how do I make ceilings for outside buildings?
is it possible to like not get immigration without having to edit tons of stuff every time you want to do it?

Using 'dwarven' and 'efficiency' in the same sentence is grounds for execution, mister.

Put a floor on the z-level above your building.

Just Kill any new dwarf with magma.
can the guy who made the skull jams through the brain fix post a link to it?

Balance fix:
http://horobox.co.uk/u/Orkel_1305640283.rar
Art and init go to data (if you want square ASCII tiles and better colors, instead of the default non-square ASCII and eyerape colors) and objects goes to raw (overwrite all, fixes balance), needs a new world to be generated when installed.
Orkel made it, and I think that this one is it.
Embarked to a zone with dolomite but no iron-making ore. :(

Alligators killed all my embark dogs almost immediately...
God damn it. Last adventurer, world-renowned legendary hero, slayer of a hydra, troll, cyclops, and a fierce ettin, was killed in his sleep by an arrow through his bronze helm despite having a dozen men around him to protect him.
Welp. Time to do it again.

Just got a dwarf wave of 10 dwarves, half of them were hunters...
