Is there a way to lead your army to new areas in the upcoming version? That way you could build an army and have them raze a city
No, that part of the Army Arc is months away.
D'aww. Well, what's in the next update, besides flaming werewolf-skins.
D'aww. Well, what's in the next update, besides flaming werewolf-skins.
Here's a sort-of-outdated list of the new features. https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1u8jibE1TV7BAwAI2b4TzRkWFlBboLiXMrVBhYmDYPhI&pli=1
I wish there was a way to pass time (a la worldgen) after your fortress falls. Imagine skipping a 100 years then visiting the ruins in adventure mode to find a tribe of beastmen living there.

Can't wait to summon a horde of dismembered zombie arms and a vampire and were-badger cult to attack a city in the ultimate bid to find the mayor's secret to immortality.
Is there any information about when the update should be released?
Are Fortifications considered 'walls'? I'm wanting to make a massive archer tower that can suit all of their needs without them ever (rarely) leaving it, I just want to know if I can build barracks, beds, archery-targets, etc. on the upper floors after the construction is complete.

Welp, I'm gonna miss this fortress... [editline]14th October 2011[/editline] Nevermind, lol, a dabbling fighter punched it to death.
So one of my dwarf migrants died of thirst. Everybody else hated him so nobody would bring him a drink as he was building a tower. His corpse is still laying in the middle of nowhere because nobody will carry it into my catacombs. Now his ghost is haunting my fortress. [editline]14th October 2011[/editline] He's also haunting his spouse non-stop, who happens to be my book keeper. [editline]14th October 2011[/editline] Is there a way for me to force them to put him in a coffin so he'll fuck off and stop bugging my book keeper?

Same reason why they can't bring the corpse back. [editline]14th October 2011[/editline]
Nevermind, lol, a dabbling fighter punched it to death.
why aren't you using the fix for that bug? [editline]14th October 2011[/editline] It's simply annoying when people post about their "epic" kills which are always shitty fighter X jamming the skull of megabeast Y in the brain not knowing it's a bug [editline]14th October 2011[/editline] and not to mention the fact that it completely removes any fun of the df combat system
He died of thirst because he probably walled himself in while building said tower or something else is blocking the path between him and the fort. The stripped his clothes to sell to the trader when he came. Other than one other dwarf, those caskets are empty. They just leave him there.
No, that part of the Army Arc is A DECADE away.
Fixed that for ya Orkel.
Now the craftdwarf's shop where one of my dwarfs died has been taken over by a peasant who left our society. He's inside drawing pictures of skeletons. What do I do?
He probably wants some bones. Mark a animal or two for slaughter. I might be wrong, though.

Unforbid his corpse and make sure the coffins are set so dwarves are allowed there. (q->go over coffin)
Locked himself in, building a wall? Shoulda deconstructed it with d->n Or do you mean a strange mood
He's in a strange mood. Another dwarf locked himself in the same workshop and now he's screaming for body parts.
He's in a strange mood. Another dwarf locked himself in the same workshop and now he's screaming for body parts.
Give him what he demands!
He already went mad and now he's berserk. Oh dear D: [editline]14th October 2011[/editline] I think he's going to get his body parts by force.

Press R and select the "xxx is fighting" for the animal or Dorf.you want to see.
If I activate the squad equipment setting in a barracks, do I also need to make armor/weapons/ammo stockpiles for the squad to store their stuff or can they use chests?
Also, how do I pit captured goblins that are in cages without them escaping until they're in the pit? Is it possible?
Also, how do I pit captured goblins that are in cages without them escaping until they're in the pit? Is it possible?
Make the full cage staging area, you can define a stockpile to only accept full cages, around the pit like this: XXX x=Goblin cage XOX O=Pit to certain death w/ hatch XXX Even a goblin master thief has no time to escape from this before they are dumped into the pit. If a cage is more than an action away from the pit, it gives the monster/goblin a chance to break free, normally into the heart of your fortress. Edit: Just had the most beautiful death in adventure mode. There was one bandit camp where a warlord and his men would kick the crap out of me each time I sent a new adventurer there. I lost the first to one of his axemen, making him a historical figure for slaying a demigod. The second adventurer was killed by the warlord himself, shooting a silver bolt through his head before the adventurer even got close. The third adventurer, however, was more careful than the other two. He sneaked into the camp, picking off the warlords men with rocks he found on the ground before finishing them off with his fists in the shadows. As the warlord's men fell, blood and items were spilled across the icy tundra like a visceral painting. When only the warlord remained, the adventurer approached from the shadows, throwing rocks, fish, armor, and whatever he could find at the agile warlord. The warlord dodged or blocked almost every item thrown, still unaware of the location of the thrower. Out of options, the adventurer charged out of the shadow, immediately taking a bolt through his lung inflicting a mortal wound. He began combat with only is fists. He was on the verge of death before he got one lucky chokehold on the warlord, stunning him temporarily. The adventurer crawled a few feet away to the corpse of his comrade, struck down long ago. He pulled from his allies' belt a small copper knife which he drove over and over again into the head of the warlord before the villain finally succumbed to his wounds. With a tear in his eye, the adventure finally collapsed over the corpse of his long-time foe, both at their end. The snow fell softly over the quiet battlefield that night.
Just started playing this game. There goes anything I wanted to get done this weekend...
