Only really got legends forgotton beasts atm, but will this do? Most of my forgotten beasts in legends are ticks or maggots, with one of the 80 odd ones being a bronze humanoid with poisonous mandibles. Holy fuck, one of the hydras in my legends really hates trolls. "Das Furstrap - The Champion of Will" has killed a bunch of trolls, along with anything else in his path. 88 or so kills, but no mention of him being dead...
Is that German?
yes, roughly translated it means "Lesbians in Fursuits"
Huzzah! i have suceeded in building a bear based last resort security system on my front door
Huzzah! i have suceeded in building a bear based last resort security system on my front door
Only in Dwarf Fortress is this sentence taken seriously.
Huzzah! i have suceeded in building a bear based last resort security system on my front door
There's this one castle in Finland where they actually had a trapdoor under the gate leading into a bear pit.
Huzzah! i have suceeded in building a bear based last resort security system on my front door
I have a similar system, only it involves goblins getting past weapon traps, a pressure plate, and a cage containing roughly 30 honey badgers.
I have a similar system, only it involves goblins getting past weapon traps, a pressure plate, and a cage containing roughly 30 honey badgers.
Having caged honey badgers isn't a trap, it's a godamn superweapon. I can imagine having to deal with the fallout would be, dangerous to say the least. (I learned this when I stored captured critters as traps, my poor stupid dwarves would try to retrive items from the corpses)
There's this one castle in Finland where they actually had a trapdoor under the gate leading into a bear pit.
What's the name of the castle? Finns are the kind of people crazy enough to do stuff like that.

Built an arena: (From highest Z-level to lowest) [img_thumb]http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/7880/arenaa.png[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://img855.imageshack.us/img855/9039/arenabt.png[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/6322/arenac.png[/img_thumb] It's mostly used for gladiatorial combat nowadays. The pit is kept unsmoothed so that our foes may die in the sand. Enemies who can actually best the soldiers are granted their freedom with a bolt through the head from the expert marksdwarves perched a level above them.
Devlog. New job.
There is now a "Report Crime" job, and dwarves that either witness a murder or find a murder victim will try their best to report to the sheriff, at which point you also get a death announcement to let you know that somebody has been murdered (these are the only deaths that don't get announced immediately by people finding the body). Unless they witnessed the sheriff committing a crime, in which case they think twice and don't report it to the sheriff. It still gives a death announcement after a week or so, but you don't get witness information. The last thing I've got to do is to set up the justice screen with all the witness reports for your perusal and give you the ability to level an accusation. Without trials etc., which we aren't going to spend time on (and it's hard to get lots of specific dwarves in the same spot at the same time, so I'm not sure we'll ever get to that in any proper way in a fortress), the accuse button will send a dwarf straight to the punishment phase.
i am trying to get back into this game, but the dwarfs don't want me to! they're not doing what i tell them! help!!
Devlog. New job.
I wonder if we will be able to make some expendable dwarves disappear like via cave in or some kind of a death machine, then it would be probably possible to just frame every noble for murder and have them mauled to death.
You know what would be neat? If you could customize the punishments for offences. Like, by default if a dwarf is sentenced to murder the punishment would be to beat him up, but you could change the punishment to any combination of different things, like "x strokes from hammerer", "stripped of equipment", "placed in jail", "placed in pit", "loss of possessions", "kill on sight", stuff like that. That was whenever the sheriff deduces a dwarf is guilty you can have the guilty dwarf stripped naked and flung into a pit with an angry giant cave spider or something.
That would be awesome. Maybe it could evoke positive or negative thoughts, "Has beaten a dirty thief", whilst the punished dwarf would get a "Has been beaten recently" note. Of course, that would make all dwarven sherriffs sadists, but this is Dwarf Fortress, where the illegal is legal, and humanity is overrated.
That sounds pretty cool. Although you could just build a sacrificial chamber with a justice chain at the altar in the middle. Then the bridge connecting it to the fort is raised and another lever is pulled releasing the Ran--giant cave spider.
the dwarfs aren't doing the designations, help!
it seems being sent to the hospital is a death penalty in my fortress, they are there for so long that they die from thirst. Should I fire my chief medical dwarf ?
