Later on in every fort (usually at ~150 dwarves) there tends to be a baby boom because of people socializing so much and so many possible mate candidates for every dwarf. You'll start seeing "A baby has been born" messages constantly.
It's the time when dwarves go into heat.

I hope when DF finally gets magic it's not all like... fractured.
Lots of games/books/movies have it where a bunch of people are doing magic a BUNCH of different ways and no explanation on how the fuck that works. I like 'unified' magic where it all comes from the same place, a voodoo guy and a mage are drawing from the same shit, just one's acting like a fucknut.
Sort of like the force in Star Wars. Everything in Star wars that's 'mystical' etc. is actually the force.

But the magic in Star Wars-the force is horribly fractured.
I prefer stories where the explanation of magical abilities share implementation. For example, if magic is the ability to control the movement of molecules over a pattern in a small area. Well now you can make a fireball spell by making the molecules agitated and moving in a pattern where the outside air is moving to a central fuel source. You can make a cone of cold by making the molecules slow down and then move towards the target.
Just read through boatmurdered again after not reading it for over a year. I really haven't laughed more at something in quite some time. Truly an amazing read every single time.
Quick Question: What is the best possible armor combination? Steel breastplate with full adamantine or full steel with addy mail and leggings? I think I heard somewhere that adamantine made shit armor against blunt so some dense armor was needed to stop the hammerers or something.

ASCII with the Anikki tileset. Looks deliciously pixely and isn't stretched vertically like vanilla.

Well, not a hill. More of an... overhang. They'd channel some off and disconnect it, it'd collapse. At first I didn't worry about the collapsing messages, they would fall down a z-level but wouldn't get hurt. But then they channeled off a bigger part of something and broke their bones.
