Is there a way to stop my dwarves going to a particular body of water? They all seem to be trying to drink and fish out of one specific lake and so far I've somehow lost 14 dwarves to it.
i > make zone > enable fishing and drinking over a safe body of water/brook o > z > enable zone only fishing and drinking Or you could build a wall around it. Or a trench or something. Or drain it. Go drain it. :v:
Floor over it
For future reference, what is it that is actually killing all my dwarves in the lake? I was trying to look for it but all I could see was dwarf bodies.
Dwarves are allergic to water
If there's any wildlife around the pool, it's likely that they fought it and either ran or dodged into the pool.
-snip wrong thread-
Devlog
I have to run a few tantrums and test out the new hammerer, but that should finish off the justice rewrite and also dwarf mode vampires for this release. The hammerer is now an appointable position from the beginning, though you won't need one until you actually decide to punish somebody for a hammerable offense. I like the idea or at least the possibility of having a more official hammerer that's attached to a barony and has a way of dressing and a family hammer passed down through the generations, etc., but we'll have to wait for that sort of thing to be a priority within the larger framework again. The last vampire stuff I need to look at are some outstanding issues with world gen cults and making that have something to do with adventure mode.
lol family hammer
I hope you're able to equip hammerers with adamantine warhammers. Pacifist fort!
It's going to be a family slade warhammer, just to spite us all.
I really hope that, when you get experienced dorfs, you can invent all sorts of cool weaponry. Like, a basic spring-loaded crossbow that shoots darts full of any toxic substances on hand. And to be able to 'milk' domestic spiders, snakes, and GCSes for their venom.
One of my best dwarves has been in the hospital for about 1,5 years now, he has lost motor function and the ability to grasp. Will he ever leave the hospital ?
One of my best dwarves has been in the hospital for about 1,5 years now, he has lost motor function and the ability to grasp. Check his health screen to see if he needs any treatment. If so, you lack the proper doctors/equipment, fix it.
I can't wait to do a ton of !!Science!! on this release. abusing the undead stuff is going to be the best thing.
The next version should come anywhere within 1-3 months. Changelog so far https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1u8jibE1TV7BAwAI2b4TzRkWFlBboLiXMrVBhYmDYPhI&pli=1
There appears to be nothing about the fortress side of df in this changelog. Is the economy going to be fixed?
There appears to be nothing about the fortress side of df in this changelog. Is the economy going to be fixed?
Economy isn't being worked on atm. The changelog does have fort mode changes and additions, read it. Most of the stuff effects fort mode. The log seems to lack some things though, for example getting sieged by zombie armies in fort mode and having all your dead dwarves suddenly rise as zombies when your fort is in an evil biome.
I hope you're able to equip hammerers with adamantine warhammers. Pacifist fort!
Or an artifact platinum warhammer. The moment the blunt end touches something the victim just explodes in gore.
But the magic in Star Wars-the force is horribly fractured. I prefer stories where the explanation of magical abilities share implementation. For example, if magic is the ability to control the movement of molecules over a pattern in a small area. Well now you can make a fireball spell by making the molecules agitated and moving in a pattern where the outside air is moving to a central fuel source. You can make a cone of cold by making the molecules slow down and then move towards the target.
That's exactly what I mean... a single unified way it all works.
So, does anyone know what was in the Most horrible/disturbing things you have ever done thread on the Bay12 forums? I know it got deleted after someone "won" by posting that they [sp]used Genesis mod to get genitals, tied an elven child up using restraints, broke his arms and legs and repeatedly raped him. He gave him food and water to keep him alive and the elven child survived for several years.[/sp] But were there any other messed up things?
I have a 30 population should I get a military? [editline]10th November 2011[/editline] Wow giving dwarves some chairs and a dining room filled with statues and other fun shit REALLY changes their mood. Went from mostly content to half happy and a few ecstatic.

how did this happen i am not good with healthcare I suppose it doesn't help that I have no soap at all. [editline]10th November 2011[/editline] STOP DYING
I hope that one of these years, he makes constructions vulnerable to heat and building destroyers. I kinda despise how you can hold back a river of lava with a wooden wall or a tree.

I have soap now, it's all good. Well, it was until I found giant cave spider webs in the caves below my fort...
Now smooth and engrave the entire dining room. Check the happiness spike.
I have a dining room that makes orphans and widows ecstatic. There is a gallery of elk birds in the middle and the leader is sitting by his private artifact table. The whole thing is worth ~one million dwarf bucks

That way you don't have to risk it. Edit: Having a sea or a river nearby would help for infinite water supply.

Edit: Having a sea or a river nearby would help for infinite water supply.
Speaking of infinite sea water, what would happen if you made a giant hole to the HFS (which has infinitely deep chasms and is connected to the rest of the world's HFS) and made said hole puncture the sea? Could you theoretically drain the ocean?
No, unless all the ocean tiles would fit inside your playing area.
