So I just got a Legendary +3 weaponsmith from my first fey mood :smug:

They've done tonnes of progress in a very short timespan (I think only a month ago it was just an idea). A lot of different playable races (Empire, Dwarves, High Elves, Skaven, Chaos, Orcs and even Beastmen I think), however I'm not sure how complete they are. Awesome thing is most races work on different mechanics, like Orcs don't mine, they just have piles of scrap they fashion choppas out of (however that also means it will still take a while before they've got them all done, I'm quite sure a lot is missing from most races at the moment).

Also what is this heresy http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=95891.0 ?
Looks like a good mod, though I can`t figure out how to change races. Or cast warp magic in adventure mode.
Are there any mods that have enemies attacking you almost constantly? I usually abandon my fortresses because my dwarves get no action and it gets boring.

There are ways to drastically increase attacks, but one requires using the Advanced World Generator and the other requires you to alter the raws of Goblins. Advanced World Generation would make it possible for you to get sieges (or legendary beast attacks) at much lower wealth and population numbers, such as getting attacked by an Ettin at a wealth of 40k with a pop of 20.
To increase the number of goblins (and thus have higher siege/ambush numbers, maybe increased regularity as well,) you have to find their raw under creature_standard and lower their age to adulthood from CHILD: 12 to CHILD: 6 (I tend to do 9 since their numbers tend to get out of hand the higher you go) and, if you're feeling particularly adventurous, remove the MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE tag from their species, meaning goblins have litters, rather then just one baby at a time.

Not compatible with the balance fix though
Has the Orc mod been updated? Those were my favorite enemies, as they were often very balanced opponents compared to goblins who got curbstomped by one wrestler
I love getting hunters. Pre-trained marksmen.
All the animals in my pasture went insane and are beating each other to death, is there any way to stop them without killing them or letting them kill each other?
All the animals in my pasture went insane and are beating each other to death, is there any way to stop them without killing them or letting them kill each other?
There's a limit over how much each can graze. Large animals tend to eat more grass and will get pissy if there's none left. Split the large animals into several pastures so they can all eat in peace..

Play the Mortal Kombat theme and enjoy the massacre, that's what I usually do when shit goes down in the pasture (and shit goes down very often in there).
[editline]4th December 2011[/editline]
Went into DT to check that crazed bitch that massacred all the zombies, and holy fuck she's got issues (or blessings I guess):

Always fun when a dorf is in a CONSTANT STATE OF INTERNAL RAGE
Also the initial 7 are 6 women and 1 man, who, unsurprisingly, has a very low depression value.

Reading her description:

What
A Chaos warrior that for Khorne, God of Blood, Brass, Skulls and Slaughter. Unsurpassed in strength and martial prowess. Tempestuous and moody. Only half-mortal.
Ah I see now, you get one Chaos warrior from the start. Well no fucking wonder then.

And some animals are bugged and are impossible to keep alive. They are not fast enough to eat enough grass to survive even if every single tile was grass
all the giant grazers, really.
First siege.
1 casualty, 2 wounded :( no soap.

Well my hammerdwarf just got out of the hospital, seems like he'll live.
Other dwarf has broken ribs.
I wish there were more succession games that you could read offline. Boatmurdered has a PDF but you can read that only so many times.

Right now I'm reading Gemclod. Very funny.

What made [sp]Vile go crazy? Was it the disease from the Forgotten Beast?[/sp]
Oh yeah, if anyone likes DF let's plays, I'm amazed that I hadn't found this guy until today.
http://www.youtube.com/user/Revocane
He's pretty active, but literally has days worth of content. I'm starting on Bustfleshy, and it has 8 half-hour to just over an hour long episodes. Funny how people can churn out more interesting content than filmmakers can, and for significantly cheaper, in a fraction of the time.
He also has some really good tutorials for if anyone needs them, though they're for Genesis mod, but it's basically the same, sans metalworking.
Oh, and 1080p
Also, to add to the good DF tutorials, I keep on forgetting about 51ppycup.

Aint there yet, just finished Leper's year.

Revocane's videos are pretty sweet, but I prefer Jefmajor's Dwarf fortress and -adventure mode.

So, I started this record. Figured it'd be useful to whoever took over after me. I'm Urist Featherlights, yes I know common name. I chose it, didn't really know at the time. Well-- uhh this it it, if you're reading this you've seen the main hall. It's built to serve as a military outpost. I've been sent from the mountain home to set up in this hell hole. It's hot as Armok's wrath outside and thick underbrush covers the ground. I don't even know why they'd want us out here. Regardless, I've got a duty to perform and as acting commander I've so far got our three civilian dwarves to work, dug out homes and a large dining hall for everyone, and set up a farm. We should be receiving recruits every season, I'm going to try my best to keep everything under control.
I'm so tired of making underground forts; I always end up making the same pattern over and over again. Now I've genned a new world, started a new fort (Deepwater), and am beginning to fill it with serfs and nobles (The Wicked Blades of Oblivion) in a feudal system where stone is considered a luxury.
Serfs (Haulers, farmers, woodcutters, fisherserfs, etc) live in soil caves outside of the main town where their professions will match their duty, only with -serf on the end instead of dwarf. They will be restricted to surface burrows that keep them away from the upper class while still allowing the nobles to take goods from them.
The elites (Doctors, nobles, legendary dwarves, and stoneworkers) will live inside the city walls in towers of stone (Most holy) and are permitted to touch the sacred stuff as much as they please. They will all live in comfort so long as there are serfs to slave away for them.
I will post pictures if I make any progress.
Got any links to the songs of Gemclod?
DURRR. Rate me bad reading or something.

Changelog
Various tweaks to how the items in the stores are produced so that they better respect the state of specialization at their origin site. Did some work with market containers. Now I'm working on getting the distribution of item types to be a bit more reasonable -- right now, you end up with an awful lot of bone crafts from all the animals that are butchered over the years, so it'll have to respect the lack of demand for those a bit more than it seems to be doing. Normally this wouldn't be high enough priority to delay the release, but it's pushing all of the adventure-useful goods almost entirely out of town.
Now, call me optimistic as fuck, but that seems to imply a release soon. Maybe by January?
I remember waiting for DF2010 to come out... I kept thinking it'd come out "next month", instead I ended up not playing DF for a year and a half because I wanted to wait for the new version.
And then it came out when no one expected it.
I mean seriously who would have guessed and MEANT it?

Blood was everywhere
And rotten corpses of every single piece of vermin

The large outer fence perimeter, currently only home to some minor farms and refuse piles right now. Starting work on the first noble building near the tunnel towards the north.
[img_thumb]http://oi44.tinypic.com/s12r7m.jpg[/img_thumb]
The serf caves. Setting up some base industries in here (Food, wood, meat, plants, booze, etc) for now. Plans are to develop many more serf holes in there for the peasant scum.
[img_thumb]http://oi40.tinypic.com/wqzrww.jpg[/img_thumb]
The trader tunnel. Once I've rigged it to be so, bridges will raise, forcing the gobbos through the future grinder on the left. Might throw in some more bridges just to be sure. Going to have somewhere around a few hundred simple weapons traps in this baby.
Planning for the town using zones:
[img_thumb]http://oi43.tinypic.com/1zy8mjl.jpg[/img_thumb]
I plan on having nice statues on the intersections to boost happiness when I get round to it. Anyone have any ideas for filling the empty spaces?
