Woah, I just found my biggest gold vein yet. Also is there a way to see what workshop a dwarf needs when gaining a mood?
And this thread fuckin' exploded when it was released. Then the bugs... OH GOD THE BUGS Blood was everywhere And rotten corpses of every single piece of vermin
Remember the acidic rain? :v:
I do, Holy shit. That shit was just scary.
Also is there a way to see what workshop a dwarf needs when gaining a mood?
Check his skills. Just trying to figure out how to format this, here's the pace whilst I do it. Things like Clothier and Metalsmith are more likely to get it than a lumberjack or hauler.
Well, I really appreciate it. Thanks!

Cat's adopt people, all others have to be assigned as pets. It's part of the reason that cats are hated by some - they reproduce quickly (though that was nerfed for this version, thank god) and bond to people, leading to them becoming unbutcherable, thus you have a breeding pair that need to be atomsmashed to deal with them. Now it's birdsplosions more than catsplosions, but birds are amazing for food, 'cos of eggs.
Great, my Chaos save got fucked (DF crashes when I load it). Tried starting a new one with Savage Orcs, embarked on a terrifying river and got spammed with zombie carps (wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't that they interrupt labours of my Orcs, making it impossible to do anything).
Khorne is pissed I betrayed Chaos and made an Orc settlement apparently, because he sent me this fuckness:
Juggernaut of Khorne Dostom A gigantic, Khornate, demonic quadruped made of brass and blood-iron. Has a deadly, axe-like horn along with mighty jaws. Nigh unstoppable.
I guess that's it for this Orc settlement then.
Call in da boyz and bash im gud
Call in da boyz and bash im gud
Called in all 16 boyz and da boss. One managed to put one dent in the brass, but then every single Orc got mauled (I had seen "corpse" and in worse cases, "mutilated corpse", but never had I seen "smear" as a body left behind). Also it bit and tore apart like crazy, every Orc lost like 2 limbs before being killed, and some got bitten in half.
You know, that mod is pretty interesting. But how do I play it? As in playstyle? Do I play it just like I would dwarf fortress unmodded or what? Do I just get all my boyz into the military and make them choppaz and then chop stuff good?

Most work similarly to Dwarfs (by that I mean they also dig and stuff). Orcs however, don't. They have a building that Orcs dump items into, and then Orcs fashion choppas and stuff out of those items (being Savage Orcs, they can't dig at all, so be prepared for above ground forts). Chaos are a bit more traditional, but they rely on many weak units (cultists) as the lowest of the low (you can even burn corpses for charcoal, or sacrifice them) while there are very few super powerful Chaos warriors (or even more powerful Chaos Champions). [editline]7th December 2011[/editline] Tried reclaiming my fort, everything goes smoothly then suddenly the satanic Khorne beast [del]ambushes me[/del] erupts out of the ground dismembering my big boss in the blink of an eye. Fuck it, I'm gonna move to the other side of the world where this fucker won't get me (at least until I got my huge wall up and running).

[editline]7th December 2011[/editline] Wish it supported ironhand, vanilla ascii gives me a headache.
I used to use tilesets, but then I changed to ASCII like a boss.
Have to say, I only really play with tilesets. I can get my bearings and the like with ASCII (or partially ASCII, it's not true ASCII on DF) but I dislike the harsh colour contrast, which can be pretty sharp - especially for some red sand deserts. Also, the square tilesets are so much more usable than rectangles. I can play with ASCII if I have to, but it detracts remarkably from the whole gameplay feeling for me. (personally)
I've wanted to switch to a tileset, but I like the feel of ASCII for now. It makes me feel like I'm imagining everything more than with any graphics.
I've wanted to switch to a tileset, but I like the feel of ASCII for now. It makes me feel like I'm imagining everything more than with any graphics.
Try the ASCII tileset + colour scheme from the OP's fix, they look great.
Try the ASCII tileset + colour scheme from the OP's fix, they look great.
I think I tried it and wasn't a fan of how it changed everything. I wish I had known about it from the start, though, since square tiles would've made my earlier forts much better designed.
I have 164 dorfs and 2.4 million created wealth, yet still only a mayor noble. I dont understand whats wrong.
I have 164 dorfs and 2.4 million created wealth, yet still only a mayor noble. I dont understand whats wrong.
How much have you exported?
Isn't there a required gift amount needed, or is that just for king?
How much have you exported?
17.8 k. Someone suggested investing in paved roads and offering goods to the dorfy king, so Ive done that.
17.8 k. Someone suggested investing in paved roads and offering goods to the dorfy king, so Ive done that.
Weird, the wiki says that should be enough. Offering to the king might help too.
You could always dig to adamantine, discovering it will make the king appear.
You could always dig to adamantine, discovering it will make the king appear.
And then just to piss you off further the game sends him dressed as a peasant
With a goblin army hot on his heels.
You could always dig to adamantine, discovering it will make the king appear.

Unlike previous versions, the monarch will no longer come upon the discovery of adamantine.
Got to adamantine, nothing happened. oh well. Question to everyone: What is your favorite embark loadout?
Got to adamantine, nothing happened. oh well. Question to everyone: What is your favorite embark loadout?
I just have it choose for me, since I like spending more time actually playing than getting ready to start playing.
Got to adamantine, nothing happened. oh well. Question to everyone: What is your favorite embark loadout?
Damnit, didn't know it was changed.
