What do you mean? There's only one currency. You earn gold for beating dungeons. You can sell the stuff you find in dungeons on the marketplace for gold. You buy stuff on the marketplace, from other players, or from NPCs, with gold.
edit: maybe you're confused with the token system? You get 50 tokens every Monday, Thursday, Saturday. These let you take boat rides. 1st 6 rides per day cost 2 tokens per, 7-12 cost 3 tokens, 13+ cost 4

In addition, there's Nexon cash which you buy with real currency and can use it to get cheating items, but other than that, there's the currency Placeboing mentioned.

Unless you live near a coast of the US. Then join the side you live on. If you live in New York, join East, as you don't want to be playing on a locally hosted game from California.

The beginning of this game is very repetitive. The entire game is fairly repetitive (just like any co-op game where you run maps over and over), but the beginning especially. Check the marketplace for the items you need to complete your quests. If they are on there for cheap, buy them instead of finding them in the dungeons. That should get you to level 20 or so in no time.

Yes, now the only reason you lag is if the host has a terrible connection. The game is lag-free most of the time.

As you noticed, I actually chose female names for my female characters. Although I guess Kirilis is more of a unisex name when it's just "Kiril" which is what I normally tried to get for her.
