So Sonic 2 had Knuckles in special stages, midair tricks, chasing an emerald instead of trying to collect rings before you hit the midway or end points, or retarded upside down character controls. Or a blimp. Looks to me like the only thing they kept was running inside a tube (or if you're going to say Sonic 2 -> Generations, running inside a tube with mines). Please tell me how that's from Sonic 2. My point isn't that they're copying from Sonic Heroes at all, it's that if they're even considering adding content from Sonic Heroes, what's to stop them from re-adding Sonic Heroes' physics or retarded speed x fly x power combos. You could fall off the side and die during "cutscenes" where the characters are suposed to run in straight lines unless you corrected them using your controller.
Considering they've already shown us the main gist of the gameplay, I doubt they're going to reintroduce Sonic Heroes mechanics. I can't even tell if this post is badmouthing Sonic Heroes or badmouthing Sega for even thinking of adding things from it. Guess you'll hate Generations for having the menu music from Heroes.
the menu music from Heroes.
Wha?
Wha?
Someone ripped and uploaded the music from the Generations demo - a remix of the Sonic Heroes menu theme was in the song set.
But the original was so fast and rockin'! They could at least make something that matched it's energy and pace. This remix is like 2009 pop music one of the freshman girls would be playing in shitty quality over her phone at the lunch table because it's "so awesome everyone should hear it". Sega is now that blonde girl at lunch that's had 4 dicks in her at once and is afraid of words that have more than 3 syllables. My childhood has been remixed.
I'm gonna guess you are about 15 or 16. In which case, sonic 1 came out three years before you were born, and Sonic 2 came out the year you were born. Also, your nostalgia is fake, made up of what you heard from older fanboys who rant on forums about how fast sonic 1 & 2 were. Go and play them. Especially Sonic 1. Have a go at Labyrinth Zone and tell me how fast it is. Or even Marble Zone. Here is a speedrun of it. Notice the lack of speed in most of it? Notice the platforming. Sonic was a Sega's answer to Mario and a host of platformers on the NES & SNES. Sure, it's faster than your average Mario game, but it's not the hold right speedathon people make it out to be. Sonic 2 was faster, but even then, the levels made you stop and think (Casino Night Zone) and put in some difficult platforming. Please, your childhood isn't ruined, since it was never a part of it. Stop overreacting anyway, it's just a game.

Green Hill itself is a great example. The funniest thing is that Sonic Adventure was exactly that as well. A little speed running here, a little jumping there. Yet, people still didn't like it. Once you really think about it, it's incredibly silly that people actually think Sonic Team did a bad job of translating the game to 3D, when really once you get down to it, Sonic Adventure and Heroes retain more of the classic games than the modern ones. That being said, Unleashed, Colors, and now Generations are all excellent examples of going back to the basics of Sonic, and in fact greatly improving upon them. If I had to choose between playing Unleashed and Sonic and Knuckles, I guess I'd have to pick up my Xbox controller.
Man wasn't till earlier today that I found out about the crabmeats taunt. Sega acknowledges them as garbage enemies apparently as if they hit you they fall on there back laughing like "Holy shit you're bad at this" I love these details.

If Sega took one of the original roms, made a rom hack into a new game, and released it? "Fucking sega cant even come up with anything original!" Make the next Adventure game? "Ohno friends are back, sonic cycle this game is shit and nothing like the classics!" Some of us, like you and me, may enjoy Generations, but the general outcry Sega will see is the massive shitstorm cloud. Kind of like Valve with the SPUF forums and Team Fortress 2.
Special Stages
Actually, if the information from the internet is correct, (and I have no reason to doubt them myself) , that's gonna be a 3DS exclusive to accentuate the 3D effects. Of course, the console version could very well have it, but since the 3DS version will have completely different stages, this is unlikely. I think the 3DS version is for me, since I started on the handheld games (Sonic Chaos FTW), I liked Sonic Rush, and I'd like to be surprised about the stages myself (since the console list has been revealed already).
I enjoyed Sonic Adventure, for what it's worth. Sonic Adventure 2 was okay, but my younger brother who bought it definitely like it more than I did. I thought the fact that you could choose to play the extra characters in SA was good, and a bonus for unlocking them in the actual game. As soon as those characters became the actual game in SA2, it was downhill from there, at least for the 3d games. SA2 still had good platforming levels, but SA1 was much better. I love that old temple, except the snake underwater bit freaked me out a bit. I am also one of those guys with a fear of underwater levels. Could never finish Ecco on the DC. Got up to some underwater alien level and sharks kept attacking from everywhere... no thank you. The massive fog didn't help either...
I'm gonna guess you are about 15 or 16.
Not that what he said wasn't stupid and all, but this is a terrible way to start a counter-argument.
Not that what he said wasn't stupid and all, but this is a terrible way to start a counter-argument.
Uh, he wasn't saying he was being childish or anything. He was stating the fact that it wasn't part of his childhood for being that age.
Yeah, I wasn't having a go at him saying "you're dumb because you are young". I just guessed from his style of writing (talking about freshman and sexual acts in a juvenile way), that he was young. And then I said that Sonic came out before he was born. I don't care that he is young. Most people on this forum are under 20 (I think I saw that on a survey taken here a while back).
SA1 is my favorite Sonic game. I think that Sonic Team did a great job with it. [editline]19th July 2011[/editline] And I did play the Mega Drive games before SA1.
I don't know, I like SA2 a lot more, it's my favorite sonic game. Maybe just because it was my game. We all have those, right? When we were kids we'd have a few video games, but then there'd be that one-- that one game you couldn't ever stop playing-- and then I sort of unconsciously decided, okay, I'm a gamer now.
Good news everyone, QA testers and sega are really loving the console version of Generations Bad news is even sega think the 3DS version as it stands is total trash
SA1 is my favorite Sonic game. I think that Sonic Team did a great job with it.
I dont get it though. If they were able to do this good on there first try with a real 3d sonic game and do a good job again what happened with the the games after that?

More importantly Death water is still mysteriously purple! Metal is still a dick.
I see those and I can't comprehend it as Generations. It looks like the Fan Remix from how overhauled everything is.
This game just keeps looking better and better which is pretty surprising to me, since I've hated the past few Sonic games.
oh my fucking god 3D stardust speedway my dream is coming fucking true oh god sonic cd is easily the best sonic game because every level felt so different, each basically being a huge improvement over every sonic 1 zone. i would suck dicks to get a full 3D remake of sonic cd. i don't like the way levels are handled in games like unleashed or colors. everything just feels so big in comparison to sonic. things like springs in sonic 2 or 3 barely reached his knees so why did they have to change the scale
[release]
holy dicks chemical plant
[/release] so much rage so much anger
Am I the only one who doesn't find Chemical plant hard?
Am I the only one who doesn't find Chemical plant hard?
For only the second act it was balls hard for quite a few players. Personally, it's pretty easy to me except for when Sonic 2's physics just wonk out in the underwater parts and the boss's pits.
I liked the modern green hill zone's soundtrack, that trumpet was a great addition.
Back to the topic of SA2, it was my favorite game because it's the only one where Robotnik seems intellignt- the fact that he's a playable character and not the main villain makes it even better.
