Also up here now for PC: http://www.greenmangaming.com/games/adventure/sonic-generations/ In the UK I see the price £16.95. That's less than half the console price. [editline]10th October 2011[/editline] Oh and Specs: Minimum Requirements Microsoft Windows 7/Vista/XP Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4200 (2x2.0GHz) or AMD equivalent 2GB RAM (Windows 7/XP)/3GB RAM (Windows Vista) NVIDIA GeForce 8800 / ATI Radeon HD 2900 11 GB free hard drive space Recommended Requirements Microsoft Windows 7 Intel Core i5 @ 2.66 GHz / AMD Phenom II X4 @ 3.0 GHz 3GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 / ATI Radeon HD 5850 11 GB free hard drive space
Wow, those recommended requirements are surprisingly high. And 11GB of hard drive space? Jesus fuck.
How the fuck can it take up 11 gigs.
The specs are so damn high my parts will be runing aqs fast as sonic does.
Those high requirements make me hopeful that it's really amazing. But more likely it probably means that it was ported poorly.
Judging from the console version of Unleashed, I'd say the Hedgehog Engine is quite a beast - high quality post-processing effects, textures, and models, along with the global illumination and the fact that everything has to be loaded and done really, really fast due to Sonic's high speed. Unleashed was something over 7GB - so chances are, Generations either has a fair bit more content than it (the classic stages probably add a fair amount, and the level variety seems pretty huge too) or the PC release is getting larger textures and stuff like that. Of course, for all we know they could be measuring the recommended by "running at 1920x1080 at around 60FPS". Although, I have to say - Windows 7 recommended? And a GTX 460? DX11 support, perhaps?
I'd say it's half the fact the graphics engine is quite demanding and half that it's a bad port. I mean have you guys seen specs required for the recent SADX port they did? Then the unsupported mess they left it and other collection games as? :pwn:
I'm sure it will run just fine even on older pc's if it gets released.

You can kinda tell the port was a screwy piece of work, especially considering SEGA had already ported it before.
I can tell it's even more screwy that Sega gave the go ahead to port it again from XBLA instead of using the current PC version they already had long ago, then in the end it turns out worse. No use guessing right now though, we'll all see when Sonic Generations comes out.
11 gigs eh... worth it.
Oh, it looks like SEGA just released a press release confirming Generations on PC. Woo.
SEGA® Europe Ltd. and SEGA®of America, Inc. are delighted to confirm that Sonic Generations™ will be released on PC and available via SEGA's partners for PC digital download in November this year. Sonic Generations™ is the ultimate celebration of 20 years of Sonic the Hedgehog and sees SEGA's iconic mascot racing through a brand new adventure as both the much loved classic 1991 character, and the modern day video game hero he has become today. [img_thumb]http://www.sonicstadium.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Silver-the-Hedgehog-Rival-Sonic-Generations-Screenshots-3.jpg[/img_thumb] Jesus dude calm down [editline]11th October 2011[/editline] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/FEPPG.jpg[/img_thumb] This ones from the PC version apparently despite the Y button, which is interesting to note.
That ball is carrying a car! Anyway, the game is 20 bucks/euros at GMG with the coupon.
Holy damn that looks good.
[img_thumb]This ones from the PC version apparently despite the Y button, which is interesting to note.
They could be using a 360 controller. I know I would.
My god just look at the texture on the bottom of his shoe its so HI-REZ
The recommended RAM being 3 gigabytes has crushed my hopes of a 64-bit version. And on the PC version being confirmed, IT'S ABOUT TIME. [editline]derp[/editline]
Sonic Generations for PC digital includes Steamworks features such as Steam Cloud, which allows save files to be stored on Steam’s servers so you can resume your game progress from any PC.
The recommended RAM being 3 gigabytes has crushed my hopes of a 64-bit version.
Why would you even need a 64-bit version?
Why would you even need a 64-bit version?
So it would run better?
So it would run better?
They hardly ever do.
So it would run better?
Not really, the difference in performance would be fairly insignificant for this sort of game and since it is a multiplatform port the 64-bit version would almost certainly be as buggy as hell.
Sonic generations is more of a console game if you know what i mean
Sonic generations is more of a console game if you know what i mean
I agree, but with a gamepad or an xbox controller it's pretty much the same thing and apparently there's a load of discounts on the PC version
I wonder if there will be classic/modern sky chase zones... Classic like in sonic 2, modern like in adventure (1). [editline]11th October 2011[/editline] If the tornado doesn't make an appearance anywhere I'll be sorely disappointed.
If the tornado doesn't make an appearance anywhere I'll be sorely disappointed.
There's a mission for GHZ where you race against the Tornado.

I heard that the Tornado sections in Sonic Unleashed weren't particularly amazing.
Hopefully they can do it right when it comes to the 3D version. I heard that the Tornado sections in Sonic Unleashed weren't particularly amazing.
Basically, enemies/projectiles fly at you and you press buttons according to the order they appear in to destroy them. You don't have any control of your own aside from the button pressing. Doesn't help that (360/PS3-wise) this is where it starts getting difficult, at least for me.
I didn't know the Tornado was in Unleashed. Then again, I haven't played any sonic games since Shadow, at which point I completely lost faith in Sonic Team.
