Sonic 2006 is horrible because it was too much anime and not enough Sonic. The saddest part is you can tell they originally planned it to be Sonic Adventure 3, what with the hub worlds from 1 and some of the theme motifs from 2, but the story was so completely fucked up. Why was Sonic's love interest a human character, I mean, my god.
Sonic having a love interest in general to be a point in a story is just off.
Sonic having interest in anything other than speed and hotdogs is wrong. VERY WRONG
06 was horrible because of: - The messy, plothole filled and overlydramatic storyline. - The voice acting. - Glitches and bugs everywhere. - 30 second or longer loading times. - The slow paced gameplay (except for Blaze, who seems quicker than Sonic for some reason) - Elise kiss with Sonic (what was SEGA thinking...) Im sure there's more, a lot more, but these seem to be the general issues among the public.
Yahtzee from Zero Punctuation did a review on Sonic Generations: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/5284-Sonic-Generations I don't think he liked it.
Yahtzee is a babbling moron who rarely plays the games he reviews, I thought he made that apparent with his Mario 3dland review where he spent the entire time complaining about the 3ds instead of talking about the game, and whenever he did mention the game it was incorrect. "You collect stars!!" [editline]26th January 2012[/editline]

You're right why don't they patch literally the entire game to the point where it's not the same game. Use you're head dude holy shit.
06 clearly needed more time (at least another year of development). It was unneceseraly rushed and it transfered to the end product.
06 clearly needed more time (at least another year of development). It was unneceseraly rushed and it transfered to the end product.
But then it wouldn't have been called Sonic 06 !
But then it wouldn't be called shit,
Gotta love Sega's confidence though. They made a fun version of Crisis City.
It isn't even officially called Sonic 06, just Sonic the Hedgehog with (2006) as a product subtitle to differentiate it from the original game. Honestly, the game's so lambasted and poorly remembered that it'd be pointless to try to bring it back for a spruced-up and better PC port, because almost no one would bother to buy it given its past reputation. :v:
i'm just happy that no sonic game ever reached that magnitude of terrible after that
Agreed, the only 'truly' terrible Sonic game is Sonic 06. Sonic Unleashed had great daytime levels, I've never played Sonic and the Dark Knight though.
Gotta love Sega's confidence though. They made a fun version of Crisis City.
The music was also so much better. I have to admit, Crisis City in generations was one of my more favorite levels, despite the lack of speed sections. [editline]26th January 2012[/editline] My most memorable moment in Sonic Generations had to be the Metal Sonic rival battle. Just the scenerio along with the music and the fight itself was puregasmic.

Most of his reviews are pretty spot-on, but what the fuck? Despite how bad Sonic 06 was, it's still apart of Sonic's history and it wouldn't make sense to leave it out of Sonic Generations. And despite Sonic 06 being a bad game, that doesn't mean the level taken from it would instantly be bad. (The level is very fun!) And for his information, Silver the Hedgehog is one of the best boss battles in the game.

I meant the Silver boss battle in Sonic Generations, just to clarify.
How come no one mentioned this yet
Because it's totally unremarkable, it's a neat idea to import things but the lighting so far is awful, there are no enemies at all, there's... nothing really.
Because it's totally unremarkable, it's a neat idea to import things but the lighting so far is awful, there are no enemies at all, there's... nothing really.
Everything's gotta start somewhere, right? I'd absolutely love being able to play Unleashed again on my computer, so this gives me hope.
Because it's totally unremarkable, it's a neat idea to import things but the lighting so far is awful, there are no enemies at all, there's... nothing really.
You're acting like its the final version or something. The annotations clearly state that things will be improved.
Can't wait. I'm glad we finally have a current-gen sonic game on PC that we can now mod out the ass.
Considering the guy who is porting it had to merge a lot of platform and engine dependent stuff, with no documentation at all, this is a big stride and is already relatively pretty stable, and he is already looking into the lightmap problem, This is nowhere near final In other news here is act 2 without lightmaps Here's the same section in the console version
Why is even the ring placement perfect..?
Because it's totally unremarkable, it's a neat idea to import things but the lighting so far is awful, there are no enemies at all, there's... nothing really.
You don't seem to understand the signficance of the video or what was actually achieved. Right now I'm purely gobsmacked by how much has been done in such a short span of time.
Because it's totally unremarkable, it's a neat idea to import things but the lighting so far is awful, there are no enemies at all, there's... nothing really.
unremarkable you fucking

I wonder if this guy would be able to single-handedly port all of the Day stages?
if he does then guess who just got a boner
Finished writing the sheet music for this: Will have a copy for all in a minute. God awful baseline was a pain in the ass and is plain terrible but should be doable.
