Out of all the games that need some sort of "HD Remake" VMB is on the top of the list. If all the textures were redone, and it was on the orange box, it'd probably buy it again.

Seeing as this is sort of a general gaming chat thread, I'm looking for a racing game. Not necessarily a simulator, but I don't want it to be something like Big Rigs.
I'm considering just getting Grid or Dirt 3 (though to be honest I'm not that fond of rally games), but I like stuff more like Forza and Gran Turismo. Where you buy a car, you can customize it, win a few races and then buy another car and continue on.
Is there anything like this for the PC? Don't say Shift 2, I've tried it and it's terrible.

rFactor, Live For Speed 2, and DiRT 3 are all great games. Although DiRT 3 is more Gymnkhana shit than Rally, but it is still fun.

rFactor is shit unless you find a load of mods for it, and LFS gets boring because the only thing that's fun to do on it is the Blackwood GP in a Formula BMW
I don't think I'll bother with Dirt 3, I've played a bit of it on the 360 and it doesn't really appeal to me.

Well, it was partly a problem with source mods in general, you can just change whatever values in VMT files you want. Not a huge deal in most mods with lots of BSP brushwork, but when half your map is made of hedges you can shoot straight through its like there may as well be no hedges at all if somebody wants to slip a "$translucent" "1" into the vmt.
Still better than that one time in insurgency mod when they were so afraid of cheaters you couldn't start the game if you had modified [U]any[/U] game content, though.

You aren't playing rFactor nor LFS right.
Hell, you say rFactor is shit because you find mods, but there are hundreds of cars and tracks you can download if you have an attention span of more than 5 seconds.

haha, yeah. that doesn't stop rnl from being oddly appealing, though
although i fucking HATED your omaha map. oh my god, i wanted to punch everybody in the face who insisted on playing that fucking thing. it was pretty balanced other than the allies simply didn't have enough tickets and yet everybody apparently had the rationalization that equal tickets make perfect sense even though there was simply never enough for allies to win

Omaha was an old beater of a map
There were so many versions and it was sensitive to the slightest of gameplay changes. Hard to balance a map where you literally charge into machine-gun fire. some played well and others abysmally. Basically you either have a lot of fun; the teams are evenly balanced and the play is smooth, or you just get raped the entire round and the enemy team has a jolly good time as they are shoving bayonets in your face. I stopped working on it, anyways. Its such a huge, old and poorly optimized map. I got it to a "good enough" state, fixed it's biggest problems, and now Im just done with it and moved on to other stuff. Plays decently enough now with RnL's new weapons and objective style.

I had a blast every time I played this mod, too bad the number of players dropped dramatically.
