Well it was worth it for me because I find it to be a great pick up and play game, especially with mods.

dirt 3 is enjoyed in the same manner as dirt 2, stick it on a difficulty where you're fighting for victory. if you can beat the AI by 2 seconds then its not hard enough.

You guys don't realize that spending that much money in Entropia Universe is an investment. If you're smart about it, you end up profiting from it (in real life dollars).
A few pages ago I posted about going to a salon in-game and getting my brothers hair dyed. My friend who owns it invested hundreds of hours and around $1000 USD. But now he easily makes up to $60+ USD a day serving customers in his Salon. He earns more than some people do in RL. And thats just a VIRTUAL SALON. Imagine the bigger investments like land ownership?
Entropia Universe isnt a MMORPG or a game, It is supposed to be a virtual reality. If you go in there expecting to pay $20 a month and get flashy combo moves and unlocks, and all that other crap games like WoW provide then I'm sorry, your expectations are so so wrong.
But honestly... who invests in a virtual salon? I would have chosen something far more fun like hunting or mining. But that is the sweet part about it. Just like real life, SOMEBODY has to do it otherwise the economy just wont work.
Here are just some of the things from the top of my head that can be invested in:
Hunting
Mining
Crafting (Weapons, armor, clothing)
Store Management
Real Estate
Beauty (Salon and Body modifications)
Skill Implants (You skill your character, then use a microchip to extract the skill and sell it on the market for shitloads of money)
The economy in this game is real. A good example would be the crafting profession. A lot of craftsman will pay a lot of PED for things like wool so they can craft clothing. So guess what? As a hunter, going out and killing beasts for cloth earns you massive profit. The same goes for other materials like iron, which armor and weapon makers would pay a lot for.

Ok, so here is a screenshot I just took for you guys. This chart represents the market value for Animal Hide over the last year. And thats just Animal Hide, 1 material out of the thousands that can be found in the game. As a hunter, I need to check the value for all the loot I've collected after a hunt, and then either sell it directly to a craftsman, or put it up in the auction (yes, there is actually an in-game auction):
