It's best to have at least /some/ AA - it adds a bit of extra detail, removes any annoying aliasing and generally makes things look better.
Alternatively, you could just try and use the trendy new solution of post-processing antialiasing and downsampling. In the meantime, have some Mirror's Edge with 8xQ AA and 4x TRSGSSAA. :P
Who cares about AA? My computer handles AA just fine but a lot of times I just leave it off or low since I do not notice it.
It is only noticable on Screenshots. I mean really, is 8X AA, which is already more than needed, not enough?
Crysis doesn't render vegetation like most games so transparency AA normally won't work, so even 16xQ AA won't do shit in Crysis. So I ran 2x SGSSAA, which means it rendered 3840x2160 in a buffer and scaled down to 1920x1080. Perfect Antialiasing.
And I care a lot about antialiasing, considering crysis looks like ass to me without SGSSAA most of the time. Any time you move all those little pixels that refer to vegetation flicker as it moves, so it's not a matter of jaggies anymore but all the vegetation appears to flicker as I move around.

Maybe you should perhaps focus on shooting Koreans and Aliens instead of pixels. You know, play the game.
But then again, do what you think is best.

I wouldn't call Crysis a game, it's just a graphics sandbox (that's why the storyline and gameplay is terrible, you're not meant to actually play it).
Crysis 2 on the other hand, focused more on storyline (thus the lack of customisability, and the slightly worse graphics). Although the storyline and gameplay is still pretty average, it's certainly not a game I'd buy at full price.

It completely baffles me as to how this widespread mentality came about. Yeah, the game is beautiful, big whoop. I didn't stay with the game for the visuals, I stayed with it for the exceptional gameplay. How ANYONE can call the gameplay in Crysis or Crysis 2 "terrible" is completely beyond me.

Because it's true. The gameplay is incredibly generic and boring. I feel like I'm playing a good looking version of CoD with a suit on.

I didn't like Crysis 2 as much but Crysis 1 was phenomenal. People using it for benchmarking instead of actually playing the game is what is beyond me.
I mean, sneaking up through some bushes and snipe a guy. Only to watch as the AI freaks out and sends out search parties to find you is great.
Then you come up behind them cloaked and punch them all in the face.
I'm glad I don't care too much about graphics. I have a really good pc in my opinion and I play on high graphics settings and all. But still, I would gladly play a graphically simplistic game for it's gameplay. Yes, Dwarf Fortress is fun too.

Clearly you didn't play it properly.

Sometimes I wonder if people who says actually PLAYED Crysis. The gameplay in Crysis could not be further away from "terrible". Nothing about the gameplay was terrible in any way. It was pretty basic, yeah, but it was far from terrible.

How did you play the game? Did you go in guns blazing all the time without any thought for strategy or stealth? If so, then I'd argue you played the game completely wrong.
Crysis 1 is at its absolute best if you approach the game like Predator.

I tried that. Just doesn't work very well. But that's a lot because of the AI, they're very inconsistent. Sometimes you'll be spotted while completely invisible 400 metres away from someone in a thick bush, and other times you can be practically right in front of them and they won't notice.
It doesn't help that any time you need to kill someone it's alerts the entire map to your presence.
This is coming from someone who's a big fan of deus ex, a game that's pretty impossible to play guns blazing.

Sorry, can't hear you over the sounds of me throwing chickens at Koreans and stealthing through jungles as I apply components to my favorite weapons for picking off packs of soldiers one by one in the jungle and watch as they get increasingly panicked and then when all but on is dead, I approach him through stealth and toss him with my suit-assisted muscles into a tree which then breaks and splits.
It's pretty loud.

I'm sorry, but I haven't encountered any of those problems.

Yeap, it is the highest setting but we are on a custom map.
My specs are: Win7 64bit
i5 @2.7GHz
Hd5870
4GB RAM

There's nothing wrong with uploading images as .jpg as long as they're compressed properly. PNG is definitely the higher quality format but it has larger file sizes as well.
This is .jpg and I'm hard pressed to find any artifacts or detail loss:
