They've practically used the same engine since CoD and then just updated it as much as they can, and then pretty much reached the limit at CoD4.

I think they would be affected by the EMP, but there is nothing in space to carry the shockwave to them. At least nothing dense enough.

They just gave everything ugly specular maps. I think even the characters are piss shiny too.
