a lot of it reminds me of call of duty 4 though (not saying they copied it, just that the aesthetic is pretty uninspired)
cod4 was pretty good though so props to them for making the sp not absolutely terrible

anyway, the single player is pretty fucking fantastic
The love put into the singleplayer is apparent, but honestly it's not something I'd play more than once.
They focused a bit (I.e, way too much) on making it look and sound really good and not enough on actually making the campaign fun and exciting. It just feels like it's there because it needs to be there to "compete" with Call of Duty or whatever, when most (if not all) people who are buying it will be buying it for the multiplayer, which actually truly shows how amazing the engine can really be. The SP just sort of shows that they can do really good character models and can set up good setpieces, but is otherwise forgettable, boring, railroaded and gratuitous.
But again, who the hell cares, it's Battlefield and nobody plays Battlefield for its singleplayer.

metro 2033.
I just started playing that and bf3. Metro2033 has such a rich atmosphere and story is good too. BF3 is your standard modern shooter story. But heck i bought bf3 for the multiplayer.
jet mission is fucking beautiful as hell but it's effectively an extended quicktime event
