Yeah, I got to agree with you, actually gives you reasons to get the achievements. I get achievements mostly because I fucking love when an achievement pops up on the corner of my screen / middle of the screen on 360

Using achievements to buy things for the game is pretty damn cool actually, as long as it's always possible to unlock everything. (ie: no TOP OF THE LEADERBOARD! achievements etc)
