Damn I really have to finish this game. I'm like 1/3 in the game at the moment. By the way anyone else who dislikes the default FOV? I recently increased it and now I'm happeh.
I've set mine at 90 I believe.
You are given a goal and a ton of ways to do it. For me it fits the sandbox game category, like deus ex and such. [editline]13th March 2013[/editline] I played through pretty neutral and I got the good endings. I just played kind of stealthy, until I was discovered, in which case I didn't shy away from a little magic massacre. I felt the same way about it. The game forces you to go non-lethal if you don't want to have the worst endings and consequences imaginable, but actually doing non-lethal stuff involves very limited options.
I thought the Chaos system was very clever systematically, not so much narratively, but as a pure mechanic, it works very well. Because the game is designed to make lethal options much more easier, and as a result the lethal options raise chaos, which makes the game harder to compensate for the relative ease of taking the lethal option. Honestly I don't really care that it made the story all "doom and gloom" by the end of it, because the story as a whole in Dishonored was pretty crap.
The ending was bad. There's this whole buildup by [sp]climbing up the tower and confronting your enemies who have gone absolutely insane[/sp], and then, BAM, [sp]monologue with static images, roll credits.[/sp] [editline]13th March 2013[/editline] Plus, the enemies were so robotic and lifeless. Their attempts at conveying any emotion or attitude failed and detracted from the gamefeel. They also said like 2 things a billion times. "ARE WE MEETING FOR A SMOKE AND A GAME OF CARDS LATER?" *Span of 5 seconds* "YES, I BELIEVE SO."

I'd recommend adding this banner under the DLC section of the OP. -added-
Buying this for 65 dollars soon.

I think it should be pale yellow rather than gold and shiny. And the symbol should be filled with dark color. Or maybe I'm confused by the artstyle of the game.
I think it was nearly finished, I'll ask the guy who's making it anyway. [editline]15th March 2013[/editline] Here's the finished version actually.

No, sadly not, you could request one but that'd cost like 250 dollars.

It's Amon!
Wait a second, how are we going to get the 'cleaner hands' achievement if you have to kill the empress?
Wait a second, how are we going to get the 'cleaner hands' achievement if you have to kill the empress?
[sp] The heart corvo carries is the empress isn't it? I guess technically you could say she isn't dead.[/sp] I dunno though. [editline]16th March 2013[/editline] That isn't a spoiler for the DLC btw (just incase someone gets worried), just the main game.

You only end up playing stealthy because of the achievements for it, and because it's the only way to get a good ending. Otherwise the game offers you absolutely no variation in playing stealth all the way through : choke a bitch, hide a bitch, and that's about all of the things you can do while trying not to get seen.

Hell, if you keep your kills down you can even do that and keep your chaos low. Actually I might just try and do that now.
If you kill ONLY the targets I believe you can get the low chaos ending.
You can kill quite a bit more than your target in each mission, just don't go overboard the murderboat.
[sp]It's the same voice actor I know that, but I'm not sure if it is supposed to be her heart or not.[/sp] Also spoilers for the main game.
It's heavily implied that [sp]it is the empress's heart. Same actress, much of the dialogue, etc.[/sp] There's really not much doubt at all, at least in my mind.
It'd be cool if in the Daud DLC, [sp]you help make the heart[/sp] after the assassination.
So, i played the back alley brawl on the trial DLC, scored 1 million points + on expert, only 6th rank, must've taken those people a long time, took me around an hour and thirty minutes plus to accomplish that.
Been thinking about getting this game. Is it fun?
So I finally picked up the Trials of Dunwall DLC and it's actually surprisingly fun (even if I suck at the challenges). Just finished the Back Alley Brawl with 114 kills and I have to say round 13 is really fun.
Been thinking about getting this game. Is it fun?
Yes, imo it's worth it at full price but if you're not sure, just wait for a sale
If you kill ONLY the targets I believe you can get the low chaos ending.
As long as you're reasonably stealthy you can get low chaos. In my current playthrough I'm averaging a main target death and under 5 other deaths per mission (usually weepers and the occasional guard) and still getting low chaos.
I killed like 15 people in the Golden Cat mission and still got the low chaos ending.
