it's tom cruise shut up he'll beat you up
They're trying too hard.
Too hard? Isn't the point of cosplaying to look as accurately and believable as the character that you're trying to portray?
Imagine it as if he's trying to pick up chicks. If he was doing it right, he could walk up and talk to them and blam he's getting married in 8 months. But if he's trying too hard, he gets water splashed in his face and called a creep.

Is that what you think of whenever you see a cosplay picture? How well they'd be able to pick up chicks with their getup? That person next to him is probably his wife/girlfriend anyway. And who are you to decide if they're trying too hard/not hard enough, most people cosplay for fun, not to pick up women or men.
I'll admit the analogy threw me for a loop as well.
They're trying too hard.
The entire definition of cosplay is 'trying too hard' imo it just seems to be something that would appeal most to mentally damaged people, y'know, dressing up as a character you like for no reward other than it helps you forget your own life I can understand the pleasure of making and perfecting a costume but not the pleasure of wearing it around an industry tradeshow or something looking like a massive pillock [editline]26th March 2013[/editline]
Why would I be imagining him picking up chicks? I think I can decipher it to mean 'he needs to fit with the costume, if he just looks like he's trying to be badass or that the costume's trying to be the getup from dishonored rather than actually looking good enough to be it then it looks lamer than if he was just in a shitty costume not doing anything)' though that isn't my outlook which takes issue with things far more fundamental
I'll admit the analogy threw me for a loop as well.
Exactly, because it's terrible. I don't cosplay myself nor do I really care much for it, but there's nothing wrong with the picture, the people pull it off well enough.
Why did this turn into a cosplay thread.
Why did this turn into a cosplay thread.
because a cosplay picture was posted.
Did anyone else notice they put a whale in the very first level of the game?
been trying to power through dishonored on the hardest, but it's just too goddamn easy so i get bored
been trying to power through dishonored on the hardest, but it's just too goddamn easy so i get bored
You could go with some self-enforced rules.
power through
There's your fucking problem Dishonored isn't like other games where it's locked door after locked door and all you have is a ram to break through in a straight line. You're fucking water. You seep through ever nook and cranny and crack in order to get from point A to point B. It's not about power, it's about coverage.
I'm doing a: no upgrades, no bone-charms, no runes, pacifist, ghost run through on hardest. Now that's is a challenge. Just finished Flooded district only to find someone had spotted me :S Great seems like I have to do that all again.

(yes I know, you have to blink twice in the game to continue with the game.)
Yea I find the difficulty and such only slow you down, it's not really harder.
I'm still really annoyed by a lot of the development shenanigans that were revealed by that one ex-Arkane dev on /v/ (Who was proven to be who he said he was, mind you). I am absolutely convinced that the game would be significantly more challenging if there wasn't one or two QA and developer leads that were pro-casual, and it's the second time Bethesda has been proven to possibly have one of the worst QA departments imaginable (first time being New Vegas) They allegedly even changed the entire Stealth system from an improved Thief 2 system to what it is now near the end of development because some testers got "lost in the dark". why
Link?
Shit, it was a while ago, and it ended with some asshat reporting him for "leaking company secrets", and then the thread was ultimately outright closed, and there's no archive for it as far as I know. Someone did save a large screencap of the whole thread, I think, but it either wasn't tagged at all or has been deleted since then, since Google's pulling up nothing no matter what search terms I try. The person who first linked me to it might still know where it is, but if I can't get any source by tomorrow I'll snip my post. I'd rather not make claims like that without anything to back them up.
I've kinda been getting the urge to play through this again, I'll probably play with some self-enforced rules
When I replay this I should give myself a no quicksave/quickload rule. I'm a huge savescummer that usually hits quickload the minute someone sees me.
When I replay this I should give myself a no quicksave/quickload rule. I'm a huge savescummer that usually hits quickload the minute someone sees me.
savescummer representin' I seriously don't even understand how I live with myself sometimes, I would literally be the most frustrating person to watch normally, yet I still have a tendency to savescum whenever anything goes awry, instead of just rolling with the punches. I feel like the most childish bastard because of it. I should try the same thing when I replay it, if only to realize how horrible I actually am at the game when I don't have the ability to turn back time at the slightest mistake.

I like to think I'd be able to use Dishonored's powers and items to make some nifty getaways if I ever let myself get into that situation. :v: [editline]28th March 2013[/editline] We are cheating ourselves out of a quality gaming experience.

Honestly I'm thinking of doing a run where I can't quicksave at all.
You can play it lethal and still stealth your way through. Hell, if you keep your kills down you can even do that and keep your chaos low. Actually I might just try and do that now.
There's a good LP running on SA right now where someone is killing all the targets, still doing a fair amount of killing in general, and the chaos is low on him even though he murders quite a lot of people.
