Space marine really lacked variety, with everything.
Lack of Guardsman variety, Two vehicles in the entire game, other Marines all looked the same equipment wise, all enemies looked the same etc
It was really nothing like what the game was meant to be when it was first announced.

Well the original game was by an entirely different company and looked quite shit tbh.

It does look quite a bit more original than the end product, but it also looks slightly unfaithful.
Though it's also a lot prettier with the whole "brown brown brown HOLY FUCK I LOVE BROWN" thing going on, which is odd because that's normally a pitfall of most games these days.
That's great, better than what i can do. You missed a few Mold lines though (On the right arm and helmet) and the Grenade launcher would look better if you drilled a hole in the barrel.
Drill hole in barrel und fix mold lines. I'll make sure to do that on my other minis. Going to go drill the barrels for my heavy weapons teams.
Space Marine was a little bit too repetitive, but being a game set in the 40k universe I didn't give a shit.
One of the things I probably enjoyed the most were the environments. Seriously, the Titan manofactorum was amazing. You really felt the scale of hugeness.
Friday I'm going to play some IG versus IG with my friend.
Maybe some IG versus Gay Knights
Phew, I have a 1600 points mini tournament next sunday and I still need to paint 30 guardsmen, my command squad, a commisar and a tank, because every army has to be fully painted and WYSIWYG.
Would it be possible for me to sit in on a facepunch dark heresy game? i don't mean like play it just want to spectate, or could you post/pm me the overall log? i'd like to try and get a feel for how it plays
What was that digital tabletop game with W40k mod was called? And would anyone be interested in playing a match in it?
NO. Look at that Bolt Pistol. What is that shit?
For someone who likes CHANGE and Matt Ward super fantastic character development so much that's hysterically ironic.

It's called Vassal, there's a separate 40k module. Have a search about the internet, the site hosting it is rarely up at the best of times, but I'd be interested in having a game with you at some point.

Pull that rod out your arse, you're making yourself look stupid by calling me out over a false interpretation of an item with established effects. Bolters are not Sub Machine Guns, nor will they ever be.
Fuck DLC.
Warhammer Space Marine online is basically dead and the only 2-3 lobbies are kicking me out since I need to have Chaos unleashed DLC.
This is why I hate DLCs in general, they make me feel crippled compared to the other players.
I'm playing a lot of Exterminatus at the moment, never have any problems finding servers (pc)
It always says to me that there are 2-3 lobbies available.
[editline]10th January 2012[/editline]
Tho I'm playing versus, maybe Extreminatus is much more populated.
Barely related to 40k, but rumors are that Relic is working on Dawn of War 3 and Company of Heroes 2. Just thought you fine chaps should know.
Going with a rotten flesh/cadian green Color scheme for my army. Rotten for the cloth/material and cadian for armor. Already finished up a drone!
Rock, Paper, Shotgun.
THQ are hyping their big announcement for Dawn Of War 3 at GamesCom in August, and they’ve been chatting to EG about it, claiming that they want to allow players to create “custom mega armies”. Relic marketing manager James McDermott said:
“With the 40k universe, the tagline is: there is only war. We want to give you that greater sense of the war. The battle. The war that rages eternal, and make that feel like that’s really imposing and all around you, and you have your own personal, custom army in there. Your army and my army should feel very different. That’s where we would like to get to.”
Relic are apparently “trying to leverage even more so on the Games Workshop tabletop game”. Exciting! The full details should emerge around 18th of August.
I can't find any "full details". Anyone?

Nothing concrete yet, but rumours of online-integrated campaign and the idea of commanding an entire army instead of skirmishing.

Customizing armies sound great but I'm not too sure I'd like the scale being larger than it is in DoW1.
I got lucky and got a predator on eBay for less than the cost of the kit, it was primed black and the weapons were magnetized for easy removal. the fact that my army is largely black means that all I need to do now is add some proper bits to make it fit. Annihilator pattern predator for the curious.
Yay.

I'd love that, it'd be like conquering a system properly.
That's not Gaunts Ghosts, that's Deff Skwadron...
You know, you can browse gallery little more to the left and right, right?
Quote from games-workshop.com:
Mat Ward, author of Codex: Necrons, defines the army as an 'elite shooty army'.
Ever GWs writers think so little of Matt Ward that they misspell his name.

I'm fairly certain that's his actual name.

It would be cool if it included "Kill team" like missions where you control a small group of soldiers and try and infiltrate a compound to destroy an objective or kill an enemy officer.
I just realized that while I've read every single post one or two at a time, I have not posted yet on this page, because I kept telling myself, "it's too soon, you don't have content."
Fuck everything about map packs. Totally ruins Spehss Mehrine for me.

Necrons were set in stone as well, brah. The person who looks stupid here is you. The bolter worked the way it did in the game for the same reason a stranglethorn cannon only does miniscule damage and is in fact mitigated by armor in game. No electronic 40K game has been fluff accurate for rather obvious reasons, and the boltgun in the released version still isn't fluff accurate.
Your opinion != fact.

Just... stop. Ok?
Necrons in 3rd ed were co-written by Haines, the same dude who brought you the 4th edition Eldar.
Have you seen anyone play Eldar in 5th ed?
[editline]10th January 2012[/editline]
Also, I'm pretty sure bolters still aren't SMGs.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they aren't carbines or revolvers or an exact copy of Halo 1's pistol either. Your fetish != fluff or filling a gameplay design.

There actually are bolt carbines, I'm fairly sure. But Godwyn-pattern isn't one, neither is it an SMG. And the one in Space Marine is Godwyn-pattern bolter.
[editline]10th January 2012[/editline]
Although in the game, Stalker-pattern was rather loud, while it's silent in the actual fluff.
Guys, what if, like, DOWIII was basically Warhammer 40,000: Total war?
It would be fucking brilliant.

Eh. It would be kind of lame to be honest. While I love total war, it's gameplay type wouldn't work for 40k. I dunno though, they're improving a lot of the problems with it in the new Shogun expansion.
